chewing food loudly (and why I do it)

I know that considering the sensitivity of noises this would bother people. But I think I know why I have an uncontrollable habit of chewing and slurping food loudly. I think instead of being an annoying sound, the sound of crunching and slurping is actually a comforting sound for me. I know my parents were loud chewers and I might have been influenced by them but I know that sometimes I do chew and slurp for the sake of being able to hear such sounds. In a way I like to think that such sounds help me digest my food better (from a mental standpoint).
thoughts?
