I lead a good life currently 22 and I am running into a particular snag. I am use to shutting down from to much stress but lately it's been accompanied by crying spells or complete mental break down. I've also notice it gets worse in the summer. For instance I lost my job a year ago because of it. My rage got the better of me first then after I got down yelling at my boss I sat down turned to jello and sobbed like a small child. So my questions are there any aspies my age that have this intense crying spells during shutdowns? And also do you guys notice symptoms being seasonal? Any suggestion of how to cope with it because me and my fiancé had to leave the olive garden yesterday after a busy day of shopping. She understands and is supportive but it was super embarrassing. And occasionally gets me into trouble.

I'm in my later 20s, but I've had problems during the summer since my later teens. One of my ways of compensating was to go into education, where I'd be on furlough from work during my worst months. As far as crying during a shutdown--I do it, but it is a rare thing for me. I have to be shut down to the point of attempting self-injurious behaviors before I start to cry. I am not sure why, but I think it is because when I was young, my father would shake me and scream at me whenever I started to shut down. He always mistook the breakdown/shutdown for "throwing a tantrum to get what I want".

I hope things go better for you soon. For me, once we get to the point where the days are under 85 degrees and the humidity goes down, I find it much easier to focus.

Best Wishes,

I get seasonal depression in Autumn time, so Autumn and especially winter is where I find myself having breakdowns more.
