I have Skull Candy headphones which work pretty well to cancel out any outside noise, I am ALWAYS listening to my music when I am out of the house--it has become a necessity. I usually listen to my music as well if my parents are watching the television (I always sit in the living-room since my room is too small and messy).
So I was wondering, is it possible I've stopped myself from "growing" as a person since I've been obsessively listening to my music since my late teens? I've noticed that if I'm out in public without my music, I begin to feel very anxious--I'm wondering if my music has been helping to soothe my emotions? I HAVE to listen to my music when I'm stressed, or else I'll absolutely lose it--it is the only way that I know how to calm myself down, or I start pacing in circles or talking to myself (another way to calm myself down when I'm stressed).
I should mention, that I stim a lot with my music--I listen to the same songs over and over again. I listened to a Mum song 87 in one day

Same here. I love music and moving- dancing, stimming, walking, jogging, exercising. Music makes it easier. If you like music, nothing wrong with listening to it in public. I shop with my ipod and earbuds.
