I have acted on pure emotion before. usually it is negative emotion and I have a meltdown and start punching things and screaming and yelling cuss words until one of my parents tries to bring me back down to earth. I usually don't respond well to being brought back down, either.

It happened last year and I appeared to have absolutely no control over it. I'd put up with a lot of remarks and insinuations from my in-laws for many years and said nothing. Even when I was a shy 16yr old, they were always having a go at me, but I never knew what the reason was. Anyway, I was going through a hard time emotionally, due to my daughter's unfathomable behaviour. My brother-in-law said something negative about her which just triggered an outburst from me. I couldn't stop it and told them exactly how I felt about them. I was shaking uncontrollably, my crossed leg was swinging up and down and I was close to tears. Thankfully, I don't swear or use violence, even in that state. My sister-in-law was upset and told our mother-in-law. The MIL then had a serious go at me about stuff that was actually about my parents. So, I finally found out what the reason for her attitude towards me was. It was ridiculous and petty and my post would be too long if I gave details. My husband has now fallen out with his family and I'll never speak to any of them again. It's been an awful time. But, I was being honest and at least I don't have to put up with it any more.
