My family is considering moving to a more rural area. Where we already are is pretty small, but we don't have land of our own. Not even a yard.

Is there anyone who thinks they have benefited from a change in scenery?

My two youngest didn't scrap for 2 days straight while we were in the country, so it's got us thinking.

Every opportunity I get I escape the city and head off to my parents hobby farm in the country. My parents always planned to move the family there when I was young but unfortunately they never made the move.

When I was a kid going to the farm was such a huge adventure. There were always so many things to do and see, and plenty of open space and fresh air to do them in. There were plenty of things to learn and experience that you can never have in the cities. Some of my happiest childhood memories are on the farm.

Yes I definitely notice a positive change when getting away from the city and the pollution. I feel alive again for a while until I have to come back home. I feel more energetic and optimistic and so much more relaxed, spending so much more time being active outdoors. I just wish I never had to head back to the city at all.

I grew up in the country. There is good and bad. Much of the isolation I felt as a kid wouldn't be so bad now with the internet. The fresh air and silence are nice. I find that when I am in the city I can never fully relax.

I hate moving--it always throws me off for months afterward. I don't feel like the new place is "home" for several months.

City versus country... ehh, it's a matter of preference.

I never felt lonely in the countryside, but always feel loneliest in a crowded city.

Weird?

I hate cities. There's too much chaos.

I wouldn't really like to live on a farm, but if I had a choice of either that or a condo, I'd pick the farm. I'm just lazy, and the thought of owning a lot of land sounds like a lot of work that I'm not willing to do.

I lived in the same house for 41 years now. It would kill me to move. When I use to work I worked in this back room for five years then they moved me next to two loud machines that vibraed the ground under my feet. The anxiety I got from the move reaked havok on my bloodpressure to the point I had congestive heart failure. They moved me there for safety reasons.
