Hypothetical question..

If you had two choices before birth, would you choos AS or mildly ret*d...

AS.

Because I don't want to be happy, I want to be special, in a good way.

I'd choose AS over ret*d anyday. I guess it dosen't mater though because when I was a kid, a bunch of shrinks and doctors thought I was ret*d anyway.

Why would someone choose mild retardation over AS? Unless they are depressed enough because of it that they'd rather have anything but AS.

Let me put it this way:
I would rather be born with my AS to peasants, than be born as a NT into the richest family in the world. Is that clear enuf for you?
I mean no disrespect toward NT's or "mentally handicapped" — I just don't want to be either one. I actually like my AS.
Haters can hate on that all they like, but that's not going to change my mind.

Aspergers, hands down. I like my IQ the way it is. ;)

At first I was gonna answer that I could not know since I do not know what it is like to be mildly ret*d.

Then I thought.... "Wait a minute" "If I chose Mildly ret*d I would have to change"

Since I hate change (Even good change), I'll stick with what I got. LOL!

I'd stick with AS.

Although, sometimes, I admit, it would be nice to be Forrest Gump. Everything in life just falls magically into place without ever having to do any sort of thinking at all.

AS. I have nothing against the mildly ret*d but if I have to pay for a high IQ with the quirks and idiosyncrasies that come with AS, then it's a heavy cost, but I pay it gladly.

I don't like these choices so I will list my own.

If I had my choice I would be born:

~ rich
~ good looking
~ smart
~ popular
~ healthy

Those ingredients are all I need in life.

Exactly.

Now, if you were to pick which you'd want for some random child (not one you'd raise, because then you'd pick AS since you could raise an AS child more easily), then I think it'd be a toss-up. As far as happiness goes, either one has the same problem of being just close enough to typical that people would constantly compare you to typical people, but far enough away that you never could be; and they would both have the same problem of "playing normal" and the invisible disability issue.

Really, if I were to be asked to decide for some random kid I wouldn't get to raise, I'd just flip a coin.
