I was wondering if dyslexia can be related to autism. I've had issuse with writing letters upsidedown and backwards, putting letters in words in the wrong sequence(I left some of my mistakes in to give you an example), writing numbers in the wrong order even though they are in the right order in my head, saying number out loud in the rwong order even though they are in the right order in my head, not typing or writing letters even though I thought them. The amibdextrous conversation made me remember this. I always thought that my autism might be related to it, but the material that I found said that they were separate issues.

So are a large number of you out there dyslexic? If so, what do you know about this?

Not dyslexic, but definitely have issues with letter and word order when writing. On the keyboard I often invert letters. My hand writing skips words, gets words in the wrong order and is quite ugly.

You might want to test yourself cause you just described some of the main symptoms of dyslexia.

Maybe. But I have no problems reading. I thought dyslexia was also problems with visual perceptions of letters and words.

Nope. It's kind of like ASD. There is a scale. I think it goes 1-10.

I have an undiagnosed disorder that I refer to as dyslexia simply because I don't know what else to call it. It goes beyond ordering words the wrong way when writing and speaking. I also have a problem with the words on a page looking like an incomprehensible jumble that may as well be written in Chinese. I thought it was related to ADD, since I also have a problem focusing on anything that I'm not interested in, but it happens even with books that interest me very much.

LOL.

According to this: http://overcoming-dyslexia.com/Free_Dyslexia_Test.html

Dyslexia is strongly indicated by my answers.

Like I need anything else wrong with me.

I can read books but it takes me a really long time. Probably three to five times as long as normal people. If I'm in a situation where I have to read something and keep up with others I usually skip parts. The same thing goes for school when taking notes. Thats one of the reasons I left college.

I recently amazed myself by reading a 200 page novel in a week, and a 20 page short story in two days. I have to read over every sentence several times for it to "sink in." I could never keep up in the classroom.

Hey,

While you're getting depressed you might want to check out dyspraxia as well. :)

Dyspraxia is definitely not an issue. I have excellent balance and coordination when I focus on something like surfing, skateboarding or whatever. I do bump into walls when my mind is focused on something else besides walking.

Back to dyslexia, I probably made 15 typing mistakes in this short little reply.
