Are there any people here who can't cross the street without any help?

I can cross the street on my own, but it always freaks me out when its not at an intersection I know well. Places I've walked many times alone, are simple and stress free. Walking places I normally am not alone, or rarely go to, I am terrified of crossing the street because I can't judge how fast the cars are going or how long they'll take to get to where I am (and cars won't stop for a simple pedestrian unless they have a red light).

If there are absolutely NO cars within view at all, I can cross. This is rare, even on quieter streets. So for most purposes, no, I can't cross the street alone.

I can but I probably shouldn't because I have nearly got knocked over many times! I have a hearing impairment though so I can't hear cars or the beeping sound of the crossing.

Look for a button to push at a stoplight. If there is one, push it and wait for the sign to say you can walk.

If not, Look left. Are there any cars? If so, wait.

Look right. Are there any cars? If so, wait.

If both the left side and right side are clear, then it's safe to cross.

It's really frustrating when those are broken and the signs don't say that you can walk ever but the cars always assume there will be one of those.

That works on some roads and not on others.

I'm a pro at J-Walking. Once, I was with a group of people trying to J-Walk across a street and I ran across while others stayed back.

I wouldn't consider myself a risk taker, maybe just good at looking for gaps in traffic and calculating how fast cars are moving and if I got enough time. I realize most pedestrians are REALLY conservative when it comes to crossing a street. I don't blame them though, better safe than sorry. By contrast, I find that some drivers make really risky moves probably 'cause they have more confidence in their car moving fast enough and less confidence in themsleves walking/running across the road.

Most of the time yes. Vegas is a good city in that most of the major intersections have crosswalks. Makes crossing fairly straightforward.

Of course I can, have to be careful though as I cannot judge speed/distance well.

Pedestrian crossings in Germany are confusing because cars can be signaled to turn conflicting with pedestrians signaled to cross, but the peds have priority (and it is respected), so cars will advance towards you and then stop and wait for you to cross. I chickened out a few times at first!
