Sorry if this sounds "Half-Baked" Its 2 A.M. and I'm posting this before I forget...
I have a theory that Aspies are naturally wired for the conscious access of more of our brains than NTs.

See, in NTs more of their brains are dedicated to autonomous, subconscious tasks like body language, emotions, and the processing of those things when observed in others, while in Aspies those areas are freed up, giving us conscious access to those parts of our brains for on-demand logic, thought processing and reasoning. So what we lack in automatic social abilities, we make up for in our ability to acquire, process and interpret knowledge, information and details that NTs do not understand or even realize.

Does anyone see this being a possibility? It seems like it now... at 2AM :? I'm going to bed before some other theory pops out of my head :P

Edit: Spelled a word wrong... I need some sleep.

Makes total sense to me, it seems that I have to constantly tell my older brother's to calm down and think logically/rationally (I am the youngest, number 11, the only one with Aspergers). I'll back up that theory of yours.

Reserving judgment until some evidence is put forth for this. It sounds correct, but who knows.

I think so too. I often consider things that nobody else does, and this could explain why.

*puts on devil's advocate hat*

On the flip side... it could also be the result of something in the brain not working as it should and the mind adapting itself to be able to function. Similar to how those who lose their eyesight in an accident as adults develop acute hearing and tactile abilities not soon afterwards to compensate. Except in the case of AS, the brain and mind adapt during the development phase.

I kinda wonder about that.....I have known I think of many things no one else seems to notice.....I have also realized my memory is quite a bit better for a lot of things than others I've known.
I had an uncle tell me just a few years back that I have "a memory like an elephant!".
Kinda nice to realize that! :D (I had always thought my memory was kinda bad, before. Maybe it isn't?)
Well, my 2 cents' worth!

I wrote a post around here somewhere (several months ago) about how hard it is to access every relevant part of my brain in particular circumstances. I don't feel like I have access to most of it, or more of it than other people. I feel like sometimes I'm using the wrong part for the situation I'm in which is generally not helpful. I don't have this problem 100% of the time, and I do feel that in some circumstances I am able to put more focus and attention into a difficulty than many people, but I don't feel like I am necessarily better at some of these things than other people.

Actually, that could also be possible. It would make sense, at least.

I don't think aspies are inherently better at logic and reasonning. I'm good at it, but I don't think it's come from being asperger. What we are generally good at is long term memory. (Though there is exceptions.)
