My son is a 28 yr. old not officially diagnosed but sharing most of the typical aspie symptoms. He is having great difficulty with college and social anxiety. Very discouraged and angry with his lot in life. Is there anyone out there who would be willing to chat and share with him?. He really needs someone who can understand his issues.

Can you tell us a bit more about him? He might get along best with someone with a related special interest to his. There are a lot of people here who have little in common with each other, but this is such a busy forum you can usually find someone who can relate to you. Does your son ever socialize on internet forums? Maybe you could persuade him to register with this forum and introduce himself. He'd meet a lot of people, a few of whom would turn out to have something in common with him. And this is a great place to gripe and exchange ideas about the things aspies find confusing and frustrating.

My son is interested in tv and movies. He has a special ability to remember facts about these topics such as year made, actors and producers. Is especially a fan of Ghostbusters. He does interact on the web some, but is reluctant to consider himself as having any special needs other than his problem with social anxiety which has heightened considerably over the last couple of years due to negative experiences at school and work.
I will try to encourage him to share with this site as I am sure there are many who can relate to his frustrations.
Thanks for your response.

My special interest is also Movies and Tv. I am always the first to answer the question "Who is that, I recognize him from something else" and then I'll elaborate on the other actors, director, release date and when it was filmed and what else they've done. Dates are a big thing for me with anything but especially film.

I guess he might be reluctant to join if he doesn't think of himself as an aspie, but you could say there are neurotypicals here who participate because they share the social anxiety typical of aspies. Quite a lot of us are undiagnosed, unsure if the autism spectrum label fits precisely, and mainly come here because we find common ground with some of each other.
