whats the proper way to share and enjoy interest with others. im finding it sorta hard to share interest without boring my audience or giving off a bizarre impression. I thinks its because of my dull (was fun but eccentric until constant years of ridicule) expression of excitement. any useful techniques to this.

I'm confused...do you mean strictly sharing your own personal interests or having conversations where you include the other person too?

This misdiagnosis caused me significant stress, which lessened upon finding out the truth about myself from my current and past long-term therapists - that I am an anxious and highly sensitive person but do not have an autism spectrum disorder.

My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.

I hate having to pretend to be intrested in what the other person is intrested in. I also hate having to share my special intrests. No one wanted me to share them when I was a kid, and I was ALWAYS told I needed to "widen my horizons" or that my parents needed a break from hearing about meerkats for the umpteenth time. It made me feel horrible and is a big part of why I didn't have a happy childhood. My parents say that is selfish but I found it selfish that I wasn't allowed to talk about my speical intrests but everyone else was allowed to talk about there's.

I kept my Sonic obsession secret for the longest time. I think my mom eventualy found out because when she asked me if I could have any fictional character for a friend, she suggested Sonic and was asking me why I bought Gir shirts all the time and never any Sonic ones. I lied and said it was because I never thought about it but in reality I wanted to keep my obsession a a secret. I remember I kept my Titan A.E. obsession a big secret too, but since anything Titan A.E. related is rarer than rocking horse poo and no one knows anything about Titan A.E., it was pretty easy to keep it a secret. Sonic is everywhere....well maybe if you know where to look. If I ever do get a real hedgehog, I'm naming it Mario to mess with people's minds.

Anyway, because of everyone's disaprovial of my obsessions as a kid, I HATE sharing my obsessions as an adult.
