This weekend I am moving to Eureka. I lived there for 5 years and loved it there, now I have a job there and can move back. I'll live in a tent the first few weeks, there is a campground with showers, rec room, etc right in the forest and next to a nice river. Even with two cats and dog it will still be fun. My cats are leash trained, and don't like to stray very far even when off leash.

I am pretty excited, and my border collie is too, I had to hide the car keys because she is so ready to go! Border collies are very smart you know...

I'm thinking of a shift to the country. Is Eureka an AS friendly part of the US?

I imagine Eureka its full of artists, environmentalists and people with high minded aspirations?

I'd like to end up in a town like that

Sounds awesome. So many trees to hug, so little time to hug them all.

Is a place of old hippies. Lots of tie dye (I wear black), most of the good food is locally produced. Milk, eggs, cheese, ice cream, meats, vegetables, clothes, chocolate, and even energy, all locally produced. An d of course pot. But there is a meth problem there too, just like everywhere it seems.

I am going to be doing R&D on a wind turbine project that generates power in a 5 mph wind, most such generators require winds of more than 10 mph.

I think the area is one the most beautiful places in world. It is literally like Jurassic Park, except no cloned dinosaurs only real ones.

yes and right along the coast :)

i lived in Chico for a little bit (kinda far... but oh well) and would make the drive out there. Very cozy little town, and the locals weren't too offended by my presence (unlike some other places I've been to in Humboldt.)

that forest pic looks awesome and yes it does look like jurassic park.
