So if his condition was so horrible, then why wasn't it readily apparent at the donation center? What if he had never been diagnosed? In what way is this basically different from women getting pregnant from the local alcoholic down at the bar, having children who are more likely to do the same?

*sigh* Typical Daily Mail, that's not to say that it is okay though.

The story itself is bad enough, the reporting however is ignorant in it's contents and prejudice in it's tone.
Anyone else fancy writing a strongly worded letter to the editor demanding an apology...

It's important to understand the man advertised his services through the internet and not through a registered service. The women seeking his sperm did so on their own volition because they did not want to be put on a waiting list or pay fees.

What he has done is incredibly deceiving on these women, however the women in question have put themselves at risk, in addition many had intercourse with the man putting themselves at risk of STDs.

Wow that article is something else! It is really crass. What I don't understand is how do doners who advertise through the internet get out of paying child support? It just sounds like irresponsible behavior and fear mongering about Autism. I am not aware women (or anyone else) can be infected with genes. Pure ignorance!

Sperm donors are pretty well protected in the Netherlands, and rightly so.

It's the women's own fault because they could've simply waited in line and doing this opens them up for all kinds of nasty STD's and other heritable stuff. I do think that the man should've been open about it, though. Genetics do play a role and I could understand it if, given the choice, two people would rather not have an autistic child. The whole point of sperm donors is that you can kind of figure out which genes you want.

The daily mail isn't worth using as toilet paper. Hopefully sensible people will ignore the pathetic rag!

"...fears he will continue to infect women witht the autism gene"

It's the Daily Mail. The chances are he/she does know that what they are writing isn't true, because their job is to sensationalise non-stories.

The daily mail is the most bigotted of all UK papers. It even outdoes the Sun for its lack of intelligence. They are racist, homophobic, they hate single parents and immigrants. Now they are spouting their prejudices about a man who lives in another country.

It's true - a lot of stuff written in the Daily Mail is rubbish and is often contradictory anyway. It's a comic for the more gullible middle-aged, middle-class folk.

It would be a waste of time writing to that paper. They are so up themselves and ignorant they would probably ingore it.

They even ignore their own readers / supporters a considerable amount of time. I wouldn't worry about it.

'Asperger's Syndrome is a type of development disorder retarding in the development of many basic skills, most notably the ability to socialize with others, to communicate, and to use imagination.'

This could be easily misinterpreted and I've yet to see any evidence that people with Asperger's are unimaginitative. :hmph: Not engaging with other children in imaginative play and not having an imagination are not the same.

'Symptoms include children losing language or social skills, an inability to make friends easily, and developing unusual behaviour patterns, such as spending hours lining up toys or developing odd repetitive movements.'

This makes it seem as if the language or social skills were there, but the child goes through a steady process of decline, like Alzheimer's. They could have also elaborated a bit on stims, rather than just describing them as 'odd repetitive movements'.
