What I mean is, there's a shop what I go past on the bus what is called my name. It says it in big print above the door, and I get embarrassed and angry and become very hatred of my name. Also on a mobile phone I used to have, there was a ring tone on it called my name too, and nobody else's name, and I got angry and tried to wipe it off but I couldn't because it was one of the demo ones.

Anyone else feel the same?

I physically recoil when I hear my name or see it written somewhere. For some reason, it makes me angry.

No, I've never experienced anything similar so this.

Angry? No.

Embarrassed? Maybe slightly.

I get a similar reaction when I hear or see my name - I jump or recoil, though probably for different reasons. My name sounds hard to me. It's a nice name and specially chosen by my parents, but it doesn't feel like mine. Sometimes I want to be called something else, but I have no idea what that might be.

There's a whole district in London named by my name. My name on the Underground map too =/ on the District Line. I hated going through there.

I hate it whenever I'm with my parents, because they're mental children who think it's hilarious to point it out and say, "Look! There's a restaurant with your name! When did you get a restaurant?!" :| What NTs find hilarious, just makes me wanna die.

Not many things other than a fictional mermaid share my name, but if I do by chance see my name, I usually don't mind at all. Sure, hearing people sing the "Under the Sea" song and questions about my aquatic habits gets old, but I don't really care. I get more surprised to hear my friend and family members names. I feel weird watching shows when a character's named "Alex" or "Matthew".

There's a street nearby that's the same as my last name, and I think that's kinda cool.

My name is Brooke, and it's such an uncommon name that finding someone else who has it feels really weird. It's like I've associated my identity with it.

Nevertheless, I wish I had a different name. One that has more than one syllable, perhaps!

I don't get very upset when someone or something else has my name - in fact sometimes I like it, for example the student vet who diagnosed my cat with terminal kidney failure had the same first name as me and I found that comforting. But it's also confusing, because part of my is convinced that they're talking about me every time I hear my own name.

I'm pretty lucky that no one would want to name their business using my name. It's ugly & repulsive. A furniture company used to have a chair that shared my name (it was ugly & repulsive too), but it was discontinued (along with the name) years ago.

I don't get angry, but it is embarrassing since I can't stand my name. Like I said above...it's ugly & repulsive.

I don't like hearing my name at all, I'm proud of my name but I cringe every time I hear it. If my name happened to be on a shop or something boring then I would be pissed but if an awesome video game character was named after me then I would be cool with it. I become ecstatic when someone calls me by my nicknames or when I see my nicknames in awesome bold letters in a picture or something like SammichEater's (Nicknames: Conrad Privjet & EGGY)
