I basically admitted to myself that I am not just camping out, I am homeless.

I saw a van at the campsite next to mine with "River Life Foundation" on it. I went over and spoke to the lady that was with the mission, and they have agreed to help me with a place to stay and food to eat. I am very thankful for this.

Ever since I was diagnosed with Atypical Parkinson's in 2000, I have been on a slow downward slide it seems. I was laid off when Sega of America in San Francisco closed in 2003, my former wife left me in 2005, took me back in 2006, then blew me off again in 2008 and filed for divorce, she is bipolar or whatever. I took it pretty hard, but there was really nothing I could do.

I am really thankful to this organization, and I would like to ask you if you would donate to them. You could say it's to be used towards covering their expences in helping me if you want, like a temporary safety net for fellow aspies or something. I would really appreciate it.

It ws pretty scary to admit to myself I really could use some help. My friend who has a marketing firm here in Fortuna is letting me use an extra desk to set up my computer to do some animation for him, look for work and to bid on projects. I have my border collie Sydney and my cat Ginger with me too, and my car is running well.

I have to ask, how has your cat been coping? Where do you keep it? That has always been one of the biggest worries of mine should I become homeless. What would I do with my cat.

I had trained her to walk on a leash last year so we could go for walks in the woods when I worked in Colorado. She is very good about being on a tether tied to a stake in the ground at the campsite, and she either stays in the tent, or comes to the office with me.. She had also ridden around in the car with me on short trips around town as well.

A tough situation to be in... I hope things turn around for you soon. Good to hear that you received assistance. Take care of your furry pals. I know they will never let you down.

I've thought about it, too. A litter box in the car, could I handle the odor in such a confined space. My cats could get used to living in the car but the litter box would be the greatest obstacle.

I don't keep the litter box in the car, I keep it next to the tent. I have a harness tied to a thin rope for the cat. A typical metal leash latch is too heavy for a cat I think. The rope is tied to a stake in the group in front of the tent.

The cat must be very mellow.

That is courageous of you. I think you are in a good place to be. Great that there's an organization to help with the essentials. And you and your dog and cat will be o.k. especially if you have a place of some kind for the winter. Hope you get some answers to your bids.

Hey man, good luck. I know it's not a good time to work as a freelancer, but it's scary to hear that someone with technical computer skills can't get work. On the plus side, economics tells us the economy should pick up eventually.

I got a free house today! Free to live in with water, gas and electric and a yard. I am pretty thankful. I also have a desk at an office right on Main Street here in Fortuna. Things are working out so far.

That's great news!

I've had to ask for help before, no shame in it. I lived with a homeless woman for a little while, too. It pisses me off when I see people mistreat them.
