How long can us autsitics stay on one subject?

How long can we stay on one subject for? I noticed i can stay on the same subject for 2 or 3 days,

lol same but longer but i mean talking about it with someone but going of on other subjects just staying on one you really like for a long time. i cant exsplane

It does depend a bit on how deep the object of interest is, rather than just the interest. I managed more than forty years on a single main topic before reality intervened. Learning early on how not to talk about it is a vital skill.

My brother kept up a four and a half hour monologue, a few years back. I don't think he's autistic, though he probably has OCD.

Until the person I'm talking to gets tired of listening and walks off. I've developed a habit of periodically stopping to ask if I'm boring whomever. My dad always just tells me that he doesn't mind, and that he "learns all kinds of interesting things" from listening to me.
