Written by an Autistic man, Ian Ford, this book is IMO a Masterpiece of Social Anthropology.

I now have a much better understanding of the NT mind and their social belief construct/web.

What did you think of it?

I downloaded it on Kindle and read it in less than a day.
- You can download the first 20 pages for free

Step by step, detailed and LOGICAL guide through the Neurotypicals' social tap-dancing maze.

Everything makes much more sense now - Outstanding book

Outstanding indeed. Makes sense of a lot of things.

You can download the first 20 pages here, and you won't want to stop there.

You can buy directly from the printer here. I don't see anything that says that they won't ship to France, but haven't gone to the checkout page where it might say that.

I have learnt a lot myself just by observation over the years, but I am always looking to expand upon my knowledge, thanks :)

This book goes back to the very basics of thought patterns and meaning. It reminds me of Hayakawa, except that he wrote too early to have noticed the difference in autism: it took an autistic to do that.

I'm really interested in this book. It's a pity that I'm too young to have my own credit card. I'm sure that my parents won't allow me to buy any book online.

Nope I never have read the book because I am an Earthling myself (unless it's just a joke).

It's not a joke, it's a metaphor, like the title of this site, "Wrong Planet", because Aspies and Autistics so frequently feel that we are aliens, on the Wrong Planet. Or "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus": don't think alike.

NTs are Earthlings, Autistics are aliens: don't think alike, in the terms of the book title. They are definitely in the overwhelming majority here on Earth.

I'd also like to buy myself a copy of that book. It seems interesting and I'm curious to see what's inside. :)

Sounds great, haven't read it though. Anything to help understand the normal folk better.

Thanks for the link to the site, Wallourdes.

I finished my first Kindle reading yesterday and am now re reading it; this time taking notes/highlighting sections.

Despite a lifetime of observing what appeared to be elaborate idiosyncratic NT behaviour, the book clearly explains the underlying motives and components of the NT social-symbolic - belief -web.

The 62 behaviour patterns are built on top of and are a logical extension to this belief structure.

It is becoming much clearer during my second reading.

I think this book should be on every school curriculum as essential survival learning - for everyone, including NTz.

It unlocks the social source-code - so this could be empowering to anyone who is not already an absolute Master of social wizardry.

An excellent read. I got the kindle version a month or two back after reading another post about it here at WP. The only part that felt weak was the continuing story that runs through the book as examples for the rest of the text.

Had the same experience during my first reading.
- The story seemed to be interrupting (and slowing my assimilation of) the 'source-code'

On second reading I am finding the story is allowing me to experience a richer and more intimate meaning to the 'source-code'
- Perhaps the story just makes more sense having now read through and understood 62 patterns?

I am reminded of the scene in The Matrix, where Morpheus explains to Neo that the strength and speed of the Sentient Programs/Agents (The Gate Keepers) are based in a World that is built on rules which is why they will never be as fast and and as strong as him
