I am breaking this discussion off from another thread. I still don't fully grasp the concept of visual thinking to definitively say whether or not I think in those terms.
I have used this website for criteria.

I only know that I
1. Have a terrible visual memory
2. Am good with words (or so my English teachers have said)
3. Easily understand sequences
4. Dislike abstract thinking, although it's not impossible for me.

On the other hand, I
1. Have crappy handwriting and am uncoordinated
2. Don't have an eye for detail.
3. Like to daydream.

So, what do you think you are?

Explain your daydreams? Forexample can you image George Bush inside a giant red
dount shape tire floating down a river with a fishing pole in his hand?

When I was a younger werbert, I used to dream up stories and play them in my mind. Of course, as I got older, the focus shifted more to the plot of the stories, and I don't really have them anymore.

As for Bush floating down a river, the first thing that came to mind was a vague, donut shape in the middle of an even vaguer river. The rest was added as I thought more about it.

Can you image an iron bar being heated in a fire till orange hot then drop it into a
bucket of water and the water bubbling and steaming?

Can you take systems apart in your mind and put them back together?

---------------------
We need to come up with some test questions. And Ideally I way to test how sure people are. I guess a multi-choice test would be good. How would expert measure
such concepts?

I don't think so.

I'm thinking you are visual. Like explain your daydreams better. Like is it a visual
thing? If I daydream about me and Bush on that fishing trip I'm there. And I can
keep focusing rerunning it and make it more and more detailed. I just got George Bush
to pet me on the back and say "good work".

I gotta go on my bike ride now. Be back in an hour or so if I'm not killed.

Isn't it 1:30 AM in Texas right now?

So? Only NTs think you're supposed to be awake only during the daytime... how boring!

I am a conceptual thinker. I think in ideas, which can then be translated to speech, pictures, music, or action. They're not images, because they can be pretty abstract; and they're faster than thinking in words; when I need to make something very concrete in my mind I'll use words or even say them out loud while I think. Maybe that's what you get when you're halfway in between visual and verbal?

That sounds a lot like me. And I have no problems with anyone being awake at 1:30 AM. It's the bike riding that's strange.

There's a spectrum of visual thinking ability. People who can only think in language are on the far left end, and people who think only in pictures are on the far right end. According to what I have read, most people are towards the left end. I would imagine that, for me, I am towards the right end but not too far away from center. I think heavily in words, but problem solving needs to be done visually. I scored slightly higher on the performance IQ than the verbal IQ, and I find some of the stuff on the verbal IQ to be a bit more difficult.

I also have had problems with spatial recognition, though I don't believe that to be true anymore. I was never aware of it; reports stated that I had problems with it. I can't draw and have trouble connecting lines properly when I do draw, so I guess that is where the notion came from. I was said to not have properly mastered "the gestalt" -- but I'm not sure to exactly what that means. They said I had problems with angulation, closure, whatever ... things that, to me, seem to have to do with drawing.

I can take systems apart in my mind and put them back together, though I do need to know of the parts beforehand. I can't just do it intuitively, but I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it. I have to really concentrate when I do this, though. If I am at all bothered during the process, I can lose my train of thought. I have no problems putting pictures into words, and that is something I heard visual thinkers have trouble with. My language skills were at one time above my age level. I sometimes think I may even be hyperlexic.

Yeah its for high blood pressure. I lost 40 pounds and still my blood pressure was high!
Tried to watch my sodium/potassium ratio still high. I think it may now be normal with
exercise (everday, either bike ride, walk, jog, dog walk). I hate it and I think I'm over
training because my legs are sore all the time.

My dad had two heart attacks , my grand father died of a stroke and me being thin with
high blood pressure was not a good sign for me.

Up until the age of 4 I was relying entirely on visual thinking as I had little to no language to speak of. I think more verbally now but I still retain an excellent capacity for visual thinking.

Yes, I am a visual thinker. Although my language skills are excellent, I need to make things visual for myself to learn them. I have a semi-photographic memory, and I also attribute colours to words, letters, numbers, people etc.

I'm a very visual thinker. I rely on images. I do have excellent verbal skills as well.

Austin Powers part II was on TNT last night. There some good images in that movie.

Dr. Evil I love you! and MiniMe and Mr Biggysworth (or whatever). My best wish to
Dr Evil's family.
