I have heard that certain countries, like the US, will not give visas to people who have been diagnosed with mental disorders like Asperger's. Which countries have you had issues like that with?
I hope to work in Southeast Asia after I graduate from college. Has anyone had any problems with countries in that region because of a diagnosis? I am considering getting diagnosed, but I won't if that might be an issue.

i have a passport in the united states....i was diagnosed with a lot of things...though not aspergers (next week possibly....)
so passports are no big deal...

visa is like a permit right?

sorry was thinking totally different....i don't know about visa's....it depends on the country and I really don't know anything about them because i've never stayed out of country for more then a couple weeks.

I have a debit card and a passport. Those are all Visas if that is what you meant. I live in the United States and never had a problem getting them.

In relation to the US, do you mean this question of the ESTA?

Quote:
A) Do you have a communicable disease; physical or mental disorder; or are you a drug abuser or addict?

Because even with a diagnosis of AS you can answer "no" to this according to https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/WebHelp/ESTA_Screen-Level_Online_Help_1.htm#APA2

Quote:
Physical or Mental Disorders
With regard to physical or mental disorders, answer ”Yes” to this question if:

(a) You currently have a physical or mental disorder and a history of behavior associated with the disorder that may pose or has posed a threat to your property, safety or welfare or that of others; or

(b) You had a physical or mental disorder and a history of behavior associated with the disorder that has posed a threat to your property, safety or welfare or that of others and the behavior is likely to recur or lead to other harmful behavior. Answer ”No” if:

(a) You currently have no physical or mental disorders; or

(b) You have or had a physical or mental disorder without associated behavior that may pose or has posed a threat to your property, safety or welfare of that of others; or

(c) You currently have a physical or mental disorder with associated behavior, but that behavior has not posed, does not currently pose nor will pose a threat to your property, safety or welfare or that of others; or

(d) You had a physical or mental disorder with associated behavior that posed a threat to your property, safety or welfare or that of others, but that behavior is unlikely to recur.

The OP is referring to Visa as in a permit to work and live in a different country to your citizenship.

Screw the USA's bull. This is one of the reasons why I don't like the diagnosis.

I highly doubt that to be the case OP. No, I take that back. I am 100% sure that it is not the case.

Considering the fact that you are living in the US and not in the past Nazi Germany.

They're probably referring to mental disorders where you're more likely to be a threat toward yourself and others like in the form Sora has quoted.
