When I had to write little essays, my opinion, a critique, an analysis ...etc.(longer written texts) in certain exams and tests in high school (and now at uni), I often exceeded in content but mostly, in the time span I needed to accomplish the tasks. When the given time to accomplish such an exam would be of say, 2 hours, I would need 30-40 minutes.
Technically, this is because I read the task or question and immediately start to write without stopping once to really think about it. When I'm finished I can't get back to check if I made mistakes, I try it once or twice but I can't concentrate anymore at all. If possible I'd leave the room.

A problem arises when I have to write papers, assignments and similar things since the moment I write I won't give myself time to think it through and afterwards I just can't read it and then correct it or add something, this is very difficult for me. And I'll just finish them in one go (except: if there's research involved I do the research just as I would learn for an exam).

This may not sound unusual but everytime there is an exam or test I'm almost every time the first to turn my sheet in much earlier than even the second person to do this (excluding those who turn their answers in because they've given up). And although this sounds beneficial it's not always good, I could be more efficient if I'd checked my answers but I can't since my attention is deflected the moment I've finished the text or exam. And similarly, this is the case for papers as homework.

I wonder if anybody does experience something similar and if this is the case,...what could it be? Why does it happen?

I experience something very similar when writing tests and exams. I start immediately, finish quickly, and then my attention is completely gone and I can't get myself together to go back over it and check my work.

It drives me crazy when I'm writing with the class and the teacher forces us to stay for a certain amount of time. I've been able to get around that because I have accommodations to write exams in a separate room, and I can leave when I finish.

This happens, too. I get jittery when I'm forced to stay any longer. It drives me crazy, that's the right expression. And I try to convince them to let me out but that doesn't work most of the time.
But it's surely practical to have such an accomodation.

Sorry for double posting.
Does anybody else experience something like this?
It doesn't have to involve writing (I guess) but that's the case for me.
Is there any way to be more patient...or why does such a behavior arise anyway?
