Tying my shoes

I am 22 and still do not know how to tie my shoes anytime i try it seems to end up in knots. Is there anyone on wrongplanet that has any tips/tricks for learning any help would be appreciated big time

I have three tips to try.

1: Make two loops and tye them in a knot. That is the only way I know how to make a bow.

2: Get shoes that tie but you can slip on and off without untying them. I currently wear a pair of men's workboots and don't even bother to untie them any more. I can slip them on and off tied.

3: Get shoes with no ties or velcro.

I couldn't learn to tie my shoes in kindergarten and used velcro until I was 14.

I really recommend going onto YouTube and searching for something like "how to tie shoelaces".

I went for years being unable to tie a tie...now I can do it in seconds, because I watched a few videos of other people doing it. It still took me a few goes to get it down, but I don't even need to look at the video now!

"Get shoes that tie but you can slip on and off without untying them." - This is what I do, although I can tie my shoes since I was 5.

Form a loop with your two fingers at the left hand, wrap around your fingers holding the loop the other strand (the right, by two fingers on your right hand) clock wise, beginning towards yourself, then slid under this the second loop from right to left that you form with the remainder of the right-strand (after a full circle of wrapping around the fingers holding the first loop). You have to grab this slid-under second loop by the fingers of your left hand. The trick is to release the first loop with your left-hand fingers and move your index finger closer to your thumb skipping one strand. Now you have two loops, all you have to do is pull them apart, holding all the 4 strands (one loop has two strands at the tie).

That seems awfully complicated so I'll stick with what I know. Plus I'm left handed and do some things left handed and some things right handed which makes it more confusing.

I'm in my 40s and although I *can* tie my shoes it never comes out right and always unties within an hour or two...so I'm no one to instruct anyone else. My family has made fun of me forEVER for this.

I never bothered with shoes with laces until I was 13 or so, then I was taught how to do the two-loop knot in about five seconds. Before than I just used slide on shoes. I still can't tie a normal shoe knot.

My shoes always come untied and I got so tired of it, I started to double knot them. I die them in a bow and then loop them again to make it double and it stays tied. Plus the laces stay tight and don't get loose the shoes starts feeling loose too.

I wear skater type sneakers and tie them once and they slip on and slip off easy-I too took a long time to get it right tying my shoes and I still have troubles sometimes

I also tie my shoes were I can just slip them on and off.

Although I didn't really have much issue learning to tie my shoes, I do prefer shoes with elastic straps, not laces as I tend to trip over laces. There seem to be more and more lace-less shoes being made.

Nobody ever believed me when I mentioned that I sometimes "forget" how to tie my shoes, but then I was diagnosed with AS and I think it started to make sense for them.
