I know we're not alone in space.

We are not alone in the universe...

Unfortunately all the other occupants are incredibly hungry, indelibly old and view human "morality" as an interesting curio of little real intellectual value...

That's an interesting theory huh?

No, I definately don't believe we're alone in space because of the enormous number of solar systems that exist-there are bound to be planets with conditions that enable life to form, and these life forms are probably quite a bit like ours but perhaps with slight differences and at different stages of evolution...it would be really interesting to see.

If the Neandertals had larger brains does that mean smarter? Hypothetical: then, if so what if they already built space worthy civilizations erased evidence of the supiority and advanced civilization here then colonized another planet because they were too humane to oust a greater population of intelligent beings, but in their haste some had to stay behind and merged in very small numbers with the cro-mags and all these alien sightings are their attempt to improve the human race and make them more advanced like them?

The thought really doesn't come up much for me. I really don't know.

Not particularly, if you want my honest opinion.

The odds against us being the only life in the universe are stupefying small - there's simply no way we could be alone.

As you said, they're small, but it's possible. The odds are much more than 100 thousand to one and there's probably no logical reason to think that we are but it's possible.

That seems much more implausible than just saying that a species evolved on one of the billion plus planets each in one of the 100 plus galaxies. It actually seems somewhat like a science fiction to be honest (no offense, taken, I hope) . Anyway, a larger brain doesn’t signify intelligence. Einstein’s brain was smaller than that of the average human male’s and the brain of an elephant is larger than ours. There’s no doubt in my mind that elephants are intelligent but this would signify that elephants are at least 2/4s more intelligent than us.

Perhaps its also the complexity or density of neurons. Look at a Crusoe or Pentium or Athlon chips today and an older chip like the 8088 or the tube systems of ENIACs, they were larger but had far fewer transistors per square milimeter or so. So size would not necessarily mean greater intelligence, but then again being as they were close, it is more likely that they would have been since evolution in apes, like us, is on the general pattern of larger craniums and brains and smaller mandibles and jaws over the course of ape evolution. So in general maybe not, in some humans versus others maybe not, but overall in humans evolving yes.
