Has anyone else had issues with writing or typing when other people are watching? I have a hard time bringing myself to do it. That must have caused me a lot of problems in school. Even now if someone walks behind me and sees the computer screen when I'm typing I usually switch to a different tab and resume when they are gone.

I have the exact same problem! It's really weird when I'm actually doing work, but then I switch to a tab like Facebook when someone watches me.

I have that same problem as well. I switch to YouTube if somebody is watching me type.

I have the problem too. Even if I try, I'm usually too bothered by the people to really think about my task. When people walk behind me, I usually stop writing. I can do, however, simple tasks like connecting to the network (using linux terminal) or typing password (I can type quite fast without looking on the keyboard), but I can't solve problems with people around even if I know what to write next. It's like I could only click around and do nothing.

If my ICT teacher tries to watch me as I work, I stop typing, breathing and pretend I'm reading what I've typed. :( I think it is a Social Anxiety thing.

I used to have a computer in the computer lab that was pretty much "mine". Back row, 1 spot away from the wall (I found sitting there made everyone else less likely to sit in the same row). My problem was always internet, I could be going to the most mundane site ever (and generally was) but I would still be embarressed of it!

This is a confidence issue for me also.

I had to pull out of an IT course recently because I just couldn't get anything done in class with the teacher constantly looking over my shoulder (it was a small class). My usual diversion was to head over to Wikipedia and make out I was researching something. I can spend hours just clicking from one article link to another and back, taking in small amounts of useless information along the way :)

But, if I'm showing someone how to do something on a computer or the net, I can write all sorts of crap with them watching. Though I think I "depersonalize" it enough to not give them much info about who I am and what I'm thinking. Pretty sure it's a confidence / self esteem issue for me.
