Hi am new here and this is my first post so sorry if this is already posted.
I was wondering what other people are into for instance like astronomy, math, history, etc...
Mine is greek history and mythology. My favorite mythology story is about a man named Orpheus goes to hades to ask for his wife back.
How about you what are you into.

I like some of the universal human themes symbolized in Greek mythology, like the one about Sisyphus and his never-ending toil of pushing a rock up an incline that just rolls back down, a cyclical task that he must endure for the rest of his life, much like people and work.

I also like Hydra. It's also about hopelessness to a certain extent, because trying to solve the "problem" only results in an ever-growing problem.

Tantalus is also about hopelessness, with the apple tree limbs that retract from him whenever he reaches to grab an apple, or the water that recedes whenever he bends to get a drink, which prevents him from drinking and eating forever.

Gosh, I really seem to like the Grecian themes that involve hopelessness.

If I recall correctly, Persephone was Orpheus' wife, wasn't she? I have always loved the name Persephone.

My main obsession is Tim Burton's movies, specifically the movies Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sweeney Todd and Edward Scissorhands. I am also very much looking forward to Dark Shadows next year. This obsession started in January of last year, and even though it varies in intensity, I can never completely give it up because I am far too emotionally committed to it.

All of my secondary obsessions are somehow connected to Tim and his work, whether directly or indirectly. For example, I love Johnny Depp because he stars as the main character in a lot of Tim's movies, and I love Helena Bonham Carter because she is Tim's domestic partner (plus she's very beautiful and very talented, much like Johnny).

I am also into silent German Expressionist movies such as The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Nosferatu and The Man Who Laughs because I have heard rumors that German Expressionism was the genre of movies which inspired Tim's signature style. I think more people should give silent movies like these a chance because they're very artistic and enjoyable to watch. I also tried getting into Vincent Price's movies because he was Tim's idol, but I just didn't find them interesting (campy horror isn't really my thing).

Oh yeah, and I'm really fascinated with the Victorian era because Alice in Wonderland and Sweeney Todd take place during that time period. My imaginary world, though set on a different planet than earth, is modeled after Victorian England (but with steampunk technology and more liberal societal attitudes).

Reading news and stuff on the internet and post on forums (including WP, of course) actually sometimes it almost becomes an addiction.

digital audio restoration is the main one, and just fiddling 'round with music. i am very slowly learning how to play a home organ, the kind that emulates a theatrical wurlitzer as opposed to a liturgical organ. there are others but they belong on the adult forum.
