Do you or someone you know thrive in the workplace in spite of having a diagnosed personality type?

Nigel Lythgoe Productions and a top cable network known for pushing the boundaries with outrageous and unrestrained characters and stories wants to hear from you to be a part of a new reality TV series that shows America how one person’s “disorder” is another man’s “success.”

This fascinating new series will take viewers into the lives of a family that works together and supports each running a family business.

We are looking for amazing men and women of all ages whose special abilities make them the star of their family business.

Has your o.c.d. made the secret weapon in the success of your family run business?

Does your Asperger's make you stand out spectacularly in your extraordinary family that works together?

Has your a.d.d. been proven to be the major asset in building a burgeoning Mom and Pop enterprise?

If you are interested or you know someone who would benefit from being on this show, please contact us asap! Please make sure to include all contact information: name, phone, cell, email and a brief paragraph telling us what your situation is.

We can’t wait to hear your story.

Spectacularly Obnoxious!! !! !! !! !! !
Mom and Pop!! !! !! ! CAPS!! !
right.

Edit: alright, seems like the OP has been edited, ALL CAPS reduced to normal size and innumerable exclamation points have disappeared. It also has been toned down a bit , but it's too late for me, i've seen the original.

SHOUTING and suggesting that people with aspergers can be obnoxious. Mmmm Stand back and wait for the backlash.

or

better still go and ask a grown up to re write this in a more appropriate and respectful manner.

Nice to see media stereotypes reinforced. TV still employing 12 year old researchers to do all the donkey work.

Okay, I will tell my story. I was born in a barn in the middle of Lancashire and brought up by wild sheep in a field. I was diagnosed with Asbaagers later on as an adult. I still have trouble removing the wooly jumper though. My obsessive need to eat cud and jump over people who can't sleep gets in the way of my marriage to a Welsh man named Aled and my inability to attend to anything other than eating and pooping causes a strain for my entire family.

I'm getting pretty good at storytelling aren't I?

Thank you for all of the great feedback. Much appreciated. We are not out to hurt anyone in making this show, rather, we are looking to celebrate them and their successes and accomplishments. No harm was intended in this post and I apologize if it was taken the wrong way by anyone reading it. If you have any questions, please feel free to post them here or send me a private note.

Thank you for your consideration.

Hi M&S. what would would be a better way to describe what we are looking for? We've tried many different phrases and the truth is we need to find someone who actually has one of these issues and not someone who claims to. Can you give us a suggestion?

While I may qualify, it concerns me that I'd have to come out as an Aspie to people who currently think of me as merely eccentric. None of my family, friends, or coworkers know, and I'd hate to risk the advances I've made without them knowing.

(I wonder if closeted members of the LGBT community have similar issues?)

I wish the OP the best of luck on this project - or should I say "Break a leg"? ;)

Just a thought - looking for 'success' stories on a support board may be a bit ill conceived.

There are a handful of those here who have done fine in their lives but, by definition, a support community is for people who need support. People who are less than successful and need a shoulder to lean on far outnumber the prodigy types you seem to be looking for.

Also, you are 'cold calling' on a community of people more than used to being bullied, taken advantage of and a website where trolls rear their heads just for fun. You are going to meet with more than just skepticism. Few will take this seriously and even fewer would care to make their lives harder than it already may be by broadcasting it for others entertainment - no matter how positive the format is intended to be. Nothing in your post suggests that you or your company has any ties or inate understanding of autism and related disorders and few would be willing to trust your altruistic intentions simply on your word.

You may fair better by making professional contacts who can make recommendations and facilitate meetings.

How do you feel about the idea that "reality television" shows are a blight on the social landscape and a symptom of what's wrong with our culture?

Can a mod lock this thread before it gets ugly or do one of us have to say something awful to get a mod to SH!T in this dude's cereal?

It's bad enough that NT's make our lives a living hell now they want to display us on TV to mock us even more plus make some cash while doing it.

Show enough people that do"well" it will make it bad for the ones who are not doing "well" with their lives. People having watched the show will think they know everything about Aspergers because they saw your show. They will quickly assume every aspie will be like the ones on your show and they will think an aspies they meet who are having a hard time with their situation in life is faking it or trying to fake it. I have had people tell me I am not autistic because I do not act like Dustin Hoffman's Rainman character I could only imagine what they would say seeing ubber sucessfull people with Aspergers on the show.

Aspergers is not a superpower and OCD is not a secret weapon.

Just saying.

I think you might be on a bit of a Quixotic chase here. Every Aspie I have ever seen is tremendously private and it seems HIGHLY unlikely that you'll find one(especially one who is successful) who is willing to have a camera crew follow them. Honestly I think you might want to look elsewhere for new content.

So nlpcasting joined WP yesterday and claims on their profile to be AS diagnosed. From his posting I am incline to be suspicious about this and would consider an NT masquerading as having AS on this forum as unforgivable. Rewriting the original post has not really helped when we have seen the true agenda of the program makers. Trash TV of the worst kind. Lets all laugh at the special people, different people, weird people, etc. It all boils down to a form of media fascism.
