why do people think mercury causes autism? mercury poisoning is nothing like autism. and it wouldn't explain it because it would affect everybody equally then. i'm just offended by this bs. i'm not damaged by goddam chemicals. i should carry a pepper spray can of mercury just to show these stupid people what mercury poisoning is really like.

Because it gives them someone to blame. People love blame. People need a villain because railing at g-d is not something that anyone else will care about.

There's an easy answer to your question my friend. Low function Autism can be a very unpleasant thing and high functioning forms of Autism can be a very unpleasant thing. It puts strain on the parents and the children and leaves the parents with "damaged merchandise" so to speak. Parents don't like having "damaged merchandise". They don't want a special child, they want a normal child. To hell with the amazing personality their special child might have. Mercury poisoning can be cured to some extent. Autism cannot. People want to believe that the problem is something that can be cured. Hence curbies.

The phrase mad as a hatter, come from mercury being used in the production of felt in 18th and 19th century, which was used in the manufacturing of hats common of the time. People who worked in these hat factories were exposed daily to trace amounts of the metal, which accumulated within their bodies over time, causing some workers to develop dementia caused by mercury poisoning.
Just thought I would add that.

Whenever there was a mercury spill in lab, people would come in hazmat suits to clean it up.

mercury is a nero-toxin, dementia is one worse case(as in the case of the story above)
this is a funny time for this, i was just talking to my mom about this. she was given it to her when she was yonger, and i remember me and my bro.s playing w/ it when we were younger.
it is a interesting metal, you know, cus it's a liquid.
you can take a sample of it and throw it on the ground and it breaks up into little balls(evenly round) and you can put them all together again. so it is a shame it's a nero-toxin. thats why they come in w/ hazmat suits.

That reminds me of a story a professor told when I was in college. He said that in one of the chemistry labs someone wanted to measure out something like (IIRC) a liter of mercury. So, the guy gets a balance, puts the correct amount of mass on one side and a 1-liter container on the other. Then, he starts pouring in the mercury. It turns out the balance wasn't rated for that much weight and so it broke in half and the container slid off and spilled all the mercury on the floor. It was cleaned up, but the prof said that that lab had a wood floor and there was likely was mercury down in all the little crack and crevices, emitting mercury vapor. 8O

Heavy metals are toxic to the body. Exposure at infancy can be even more profound in its impact.

Autism rates are exploding in nations with aggressive vaccination programs. It's not exploding in nations that lack these programs.

This isn't about vaccines...it's what's allowed to be put into the vaccines. Those who claim it does no harm are largely financially vested in the status quo. They don't want people opting out of vaccines with these substances in them nor do they want to be held liable for any harms these substances may be causing to the people who are injected with them.

OMG Again with the vaccines too, that study was so badly debunked the leader of it got fined and stripped of his license because of the fraud he committed. His studies have damaged what people make of autism and set back the actual studies so far. I don't believe a vaccine can rewire a persons brain, I think the only thing that can is when it's being developed, no outside factors after one is born, but in the womb while it's turning from a little embryo into a little human.
