Hi

Does anyone have favourite quotes?

One of mine is:
"Never yield to remorse, but at once tell yourself: remorse would simply mean adding to the first act of stupidity a second."
-- Friedrich Nietzsche

I really like ones which have little life lessons in them like the above one.

Another one is:

"Your attitude determines your altitude" (not sure who that's by).

My favorite one at the moment is the one I've put in my signature:

Quote:
Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

That's in Shakespeare's Hamlet.

I really like

"Freedom is the freedom to say 2+2=5"

From 1984, by George Orwell.

The main character of the story (Winston Smith) is living in a totalitarian state where people's thoughts are policed. He isn't trying to say that 2 plus 2 actually does equal five, rather that people should have the freedom to say that if they so wished.

I like Einstein's quotations most because they are very meaningful and are somewhat like my own thoughts.
My favorite one is "Learning is fun, and fun is a teacher."

One of my favorites is:

"To be yourself in a world which does its best to make you someone else, means fighting the hardest battle that any human being can fight, and never stop fighting." ~e.e. cummings~

I like some of Mark Twain's quotes:

"I never let my schooling interfere with my education." -- Mark Twain

"When I was a boy of 14, my father was an idiot. By the time I was 20, I was amazed at how much he had learned." -- Mark Twain

"The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely, or unhappy, is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature...Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be, amidst the simple beauty of nature. As long as this exists, and it certainly always will, I know that then there will always be comfort for every sorrow, whatever the circumstances may be. And I firmly believe that nature brings solace in all troubles." – Anne Frank

It's a case of mind over matter - if I don't mind, then it doesn't matter!

Not sure who said that one but I like it.
This one we use in Scouting, again not sure who first said it though:

Yesterday is history - forget it
Tommorrow is a mystery - don't worry
Enjoy today, it is a gift - that is why we call it the present

My favouritest Homer Simpson lines:

"Do I know what rhetorical means!"

"Oh, so I'm confused, would we?"
