Over one month ago I created a thread that relates to the subject of this one I've created now, it can be found here:

Web Page Name

I was looking for a few more responses. I think lumping all of that information within one gigantic paragraph probably caused many people to click the link, but then avoid reading the post. I understand that. So read the link above from the old thread if you want, I'm going to try and more simply explain this constant fatigue I experience.

Now, I'm not sure whether my symptoms are related to true chronic fatigue syndrome, I named the thread that just for the sake of simplicity. "Chronic" seemed to fit well. I try to be careful about what I eat, exercise several times a week, and drink water often. None of these things help me to be more energized. Something appears to be wrong with my digestion as well. No matter what I eat, I experience stomach pain and aches shortly after. I can't stand feeling depleted, but also avoid stuffing myself (didn't do that this week during thanksgiving).

Any suggestions? A popular thing to do lately seems to be eating 4-5 small meals per day, rather than three larger meals. I have found that most who abide by this sort of diet, who eat more frequently (though not much quantity) are generally thinner and in overall good health. I'm sorry if this post isn't in the correct forum section, gently remind me about that if not and next time before I post something similar I'll make sure to put it in the correct place.

Hi

I've been looking into this too. I find that after I do exercise, I'm so fatigued that I have to crash into bed. I'm not fat or unfit- I'm out riding 4 times a week.

Some days I wake up and all my muscles are really tired and its so difficult just to move...Like I've run a 10km marathon, but I haven't.

I already have ASD, IBS, Anxiety and depression, I really don't want to add chronic fatigue (another incurable illness) to the list.

Hi Kahlua,

What sort of riding do you do? I'm assuming it's cycling?
Thanks for your response.
Would you mind more specifically describing your daily routine as it applies to eating and exercising?
I'd find that helpful.
Thanks!

I experience mental fatigue that almost has physical symptoms, usually after a day of work. I'm constantly tired when I have to work. But I'm able to ride my bike, it's not actually physical, it just feels like it. Although, it often carries over into weekends and I can't go for long bike rides just because I can't leave bed until noon and then it's too late to go anywhere. It's largely because of the time of the year, I usually "hibernate" until the cold is gone. When it was still warm I was able to do 60 mile road treks or 20 mile mtb rides on weekends just fine despite the mental fatigue during the week.

I'm reading the Tony Attwood book and he talks about "cognitive compensation". It's when people with AS or even social anxiety (AS mostly though due to limited perception of social nuances) learn to compensate by the way of observation and cognitive approach, i.e. they learn to act like most people and handle situations they normally find stressful. However, that leads to mental burnout, because your brain has to work harder and rarely slows down and gets a break. That can lead to depression and cause physical effects too, in particular if it affects your sleep or eating.

I'm constantly tired during the day. I sleep fine, exercise regularly. I wish I could figure it out.

I've been dealing with mental fatigue since I was a teenager 40 years ago. I am diagnosed with Inattentive ADD (I'm not sure that's the complete picture, no one ever asked me questions except those particular to the diagnosis of an ADD) but a professional said my fatigue could be because my brain has to work harder to process things, which sounds like cognitive compensation to me. Naps help.

I have many chronic fatigue symptoms that started after a viral infection 8 years ago. The virus is long gone but it left it's baggage behind because the same symptoms keep coming back all the time. It seems to have a relapsing and remitting course. My drs put it down to anxiety and depression but it does not seem to run in sync with my mood at all (ie my mood can be fine, I can be feeling happy, but I can still feel ill).

I am waiting for it to remit at the moment as it has been plaguing me for the last year or so since it relapsed after getting an abscess on my tooth.

Bah Humbug!
