or is it just me? i have a problem with my pulse beating and i just can't sit still and it drives me crazy. i wonder if it's because of over sensitivity to touch. my neice tried looking for my pulse and it bothered me a lot. i don't want to feel my pulse beating.

It used to bother me when I was little, all the way up to when I was a teenager. It was the tightness that got to me though. Anytime anything squeezes my arm that tight I get "pins and needles" really fast. The pulse itself doesn't bother me, in fact I'm a bit of a hypochondriac, so I tend to take my pulse quite frequently in my neck.

The worst thing for me is having blood drawn. I have horrible veins, and I was sick a lot when I was little and they drew a lot of blood, having to stick several times to even get anything. Until I was about 10 years old, they had to have a couple of people hold me down for it. To this day, I hate having blood drawn. I still have horrible veins, like I did when I was a child, and I know which ones they can hit and which they can't. They don't listen. They just want to try their way, until they finally give up after three or four tries in different spots, and use the one I told them and get it the first time.

I hate having my blood pressure taken but I have high blood pressure so I have to do it anyway. Blood draws are the worst. I tell them that I'm likely to faint so I should be laying down already. I have vagal nerve reactions (fainting) with TB tests. I've even had a reaction when my dog got a shot.

Donating blood is completely out of the question for you too huh? That would be a nightmare!

I don't think many people like having their blood pressure taken.

No way could I donate blood. I have little or no control over the reaction. Sometimes a pep talk to myself will do it, but it's better to be prepared for it. I hate waking up with an EKG stuck to me.

Sure do. In fact I hate enyone coming anywhere near me. But it's true feeling something inside me creeps me out. And especialy any flow, or that movement just behind the skin.

I enjoy it, I like the pressure put on my arm, I find it comforting. I bet I'm someone who would enjoy a weighted blanket.

I don't care either way on the blood pressure checks as far as the squeezing of the cuff, or the feeling of the pulse in that arm stopping and restarting. I have to take my own every day, as I have a heart problem. I don't like it when the nurse or doctor takes it though, because they're in my space. But it's not intolerable at all...

I can't stand having my blood pressure taken, even when I do it myself. I can feel my pulse in my inner ears, and it feels like my head is going to pop off.

I donate blood, though. I just look away when they put the needle in, and the part I don't like is the burn of the anticoagulant. They keep the blood pressure cuff on loose during the donation.

Regarding having my blood drawn, I nearly fainted (well, I've never lost consciousness before except during deep sleep, that's just what they said) the first I had my blood for testing, I was dehydrated and my blood pressure was too low. This severely traumatized me, and then because they kept screwing up I had to be tested TWO MORE TIMES! ARG! The second time wasn't that bad, though the trauma from the first one made me freak out, and I had thoroughly gorged myself on water ahead of time, and I was just fine with the third one.
