I doubt its that high...I mean I would say I have a 98% of dying by suicide, its probably more like 5% or something but I tried looking it up and could not find it. It probably says in my abnormal psychology book but I don't have that with me.

I saw somebody came up with a number somewhere in this forum.
ED:

Quote:
I have read from good source that the successful rate of suicide amongst those diagnosed with Asperger's is 0.6% (compared with normal people whose suicide rate is 0.01%).

from http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt164754.html (seems about right to me)

But I am sure that saw something more elaborate.

Sorry for my maths but is there a big difference between 0.6% and 90-99%?

I couldn't find a number anywhere, but it'd seem reasonable to assume that it'd be higher than the neurotypical suicide rate and below the schizophrenic suicide rate (Which is unusually high), and the schizophrenic suicide rate is 5% throughout their lifetime.

I doubt that statistics really matters in such circumstances, from subjective viewpoint. Its something like 1 in 180 vs 90 in 100.. But it depends on subsets to make the number more accurate + various constraints. Also comparing it w/ general population..

Its more to do with the country you live in than AS

Brazil and Thailand have the lowest suicide rates because of strong family and community, pious religious attitudes, and excellent varied diets rich in vitamins and minerals. Also lack of dominant alcohol culture

North Eastern Europe has the highest rates, low sunlight and uncaring drunken corrupt governments....

This thread may contribute to the death of someone here on WP today.

JJ's thread and attitude may reach into the psyche of a weak and vulnerable member, will even affect healthy and strong members with its negative energy. Well done young man!

To tell you the truth i thought about it after i made the thread. And i made it to see if i find something positive or negative.Because if the rate is high then we will get depressing more and also we will lose any view about society and about people with ASD.

Its not just you JJ.
But your contribution to negative energy on this site is very large

Similar to Bluto and Oldfashioned..... in terms of harming others energy, and collecting negative Karma for ones actions :)
