This spring, I decided to start memorizing body language signals and other nonverbal cues and their meanings; I've since made considerable progress, and now I can process the information quickly enough to analyze the cues while I'm holding a conversation with the person (instead of going over them in my head after the fact). Now that I register these cues, I'm starting to pick up subtle differences of signals with different situations and people, and my brain is able to pick out patterns and derive the meaning from that.
Recently I've been noticing attraction signals from a very attractive girl in one of my classes, and I decided to try my hand at mirroring those signals to convey that I am also interested in her. Well, a week ago, she gave me her number without me even having to ask for it. So it turns out that despite the subtleties of the signals involved, I both correctly interpreted the message and conveyed it back to her.
Teaching myself body language has been a great success so far, and it really does wonders for my confidence every time I interpret cues correctly.
