Not everyone with Autism is good at math. According to Wikipedia people with AS actually tend to be slightly worse at math than their other areas. I myself am good at math to a slightly absurd extent (not to me, just to my peers), but I can't speak for everyone. I guess it's because math is very logical, and aspies tend to be very logical.

I was beyond most of my peers at maths and physics at about the age of 6-15. In fact, I participated in contests with remarkable results. I was 7th at physics and among the top 20 at maths (only the first 3 or so were ranked) in my country. Later on, I declined rapidly. :)

I'm not good at maths. I always needed extra help with maths, I was in the lowest maths group in year 10 and 11, and I also had to be taken out of other lessons to be taught maths one-to-one because I was way behind the rest of the group - and they were kids with learning difficulties!

Anyone beat that? :D

Oh, I am not good at math at all.

When I took placement tests in college, I tested into the highest reading class so I don't have to take any reading class. But math? I tested into the lowest math class.

I can't speak for others, but I like finding out how some things work, including maths, so if I play some maths, I try to fully understand what's going on when/after solving

I was a bit of an all rounder in that I can be as good at maths (if the interest is there) as I am at English and other subjects. I also like arts and crafts as much as I like maths and science. Actually when I started my degree people were expecting me to do textile art or something as for the last 5 years my main interest was Cross Stitching and sequin art. However, I am very new to things like drawing and painting as up until my late 20s (when I took up cross stitching etc) I was more academically inclined. It is only in the last few years I have wanted to learn to paint, but as I am presently studying maths modules at University the painting will have to wait for a while. I have started collecting acrylics and various supplies though!

My mum used to call me a jack of all trades as I tended to be versatile when it came to learning ability lol.

I was horrible at math. It was something I struggled with since I was about 8 and I repeatedly failed remedial algebra. I failed it three or four times at least. Math just never made sense to me.

When I was in 6th grade I took a privately administered standardized placement test. My scores were that of your average college student in all areas except for math... where I was 6th grade level.

All I can tell you is that their "standard" must have been pretty low, because I got D's and C's in every math class I took up until college.

I liked calculus a lot though. I found it very intuitive. All A's in those.

I am not great at math. I mean, I can do basic things in my head, and slightly less basic things with a paper and pencil and perhaps a calculator now and then, but I am by no means great at it. I am very average when it comes to math. My strength lies in writing (which is far superior to my verbal communication skills), and my interests are usually within the "arts and social sciences" at my university. I am not a science/math person; I find a lot of it too complex/abstract to understand in great detail.

Aspies can be bad at math if they are also dyslexic like me. I'm OK with practical math if I use a calculator but I am HORRIBLE with non practical stuff. I only passed Alebra1 because the teacher curved my grade. I literally could not grasp any of the formals. I think my dyslexia turns the typical Aspie strengths into major weaknesses

I can relate pretty well to that; I was in the top 30 or so for my province in a big math competition back in grade 12. Yet, in first year university, I ended up getting terribly lost in and failing calculus and linear algebra the first time through. While I have since cleared the full university calculus series (Calc 1-3, plus diff. eq.) with pretty good grades, I think my biggest issue is that I find it really hard to read math. (However, I'm probably still quite good at math overall, except for my off days where I keep miscopying and misreading symbols, which I think is probably ADHD related; my earlier issues in my university career have (likely) simply dealt a blow to my overall mathematical confidence). Compared to the physics students, I'm probably worse at the sort of math we're supposed to do, but relative to much of the engineering students, not to mention the general public, I'm probably doing pretty decent.

PS: I like your new signature quote, SammichEater.

I'm good at maths, and a lot of other things. My LFA friend isn't so good at school subjects, but his best subject is maths. He even got a merit award for it. But that would be in his class level. Some of us are great at maths, some aren't We're all different.

I'm interested in forumlas that derive a value and in turn produce a consequence.

I'm more opposed to learning about angles and soh ca toa. That was never interesting to me.
