This is actually a pretty good list. I'll remember this website as a good resource.

Thank you. The list of female Aspergers traits was especially useful. Maybe two of those don't apply to me.

Excellent. Not all of these apply to me either, but most of them do--or are at least traits I've largely managed to work past.

This is confusing. The list of female traits is dead-on accurate for me. There are only a few things I would disagree with. I am not highly educated, I dropped out of college (partly because I did struggle with the social aspects of college). I am not moody or prone to depression. Anxiety and fear are not my predominant emotions (I would say sadness instead, but not I do not consider it depression).

Almost everything else fits. But here is the confusing thing...when I look at a list of symptoms of Aspergers or autism in children, almost nothing fits. So how can I have this as an adult if I did not fit the profile as a child? This is the main reason why I am hesitant to conclude I have AS.

On the other hand, I did not fit the classic profile of ADHD as a child either, yet my diagnosis says I had qualifying symptoms as a child and they interviewed my mother for that.

Does anyone have a really good list of Asperger's symptoms in children? Something very specific?

It fits me the best. Many of my past lovers told me i'm the most distant person they've ever met. But it's not because i don't love, but i can't show it and i look weird when i want to show it. Are aspergers afraid of affection?

Lot of of it fit me and some I was unsure about and some didn't fit me. Some I outgrew such as desire to have friendships and I don't obsesses about having friends anymore and I don't need to prove I am "normal" because it's over rated. What is normal?

That's quite a well thought out, comprehensive list actually.

It's funny, when I started going to my psychologist, it was because I thought I just had social anxiety. But I started telling him about all these other issues I had, and little did I know that I was basically reading off a list of the most common AS traits. I typed up a list that looks very similar to the one you've posted here, so that I could give it to any future psychologist without having to explain it all again.

Which lists of traits in children were you looking at? I had thought that the lists of traits in children would be similar to the ones in adults, except children would express the traits more of the time and with greater severity, less inhibition.

HOLY COW! "collects things".... ! OMG, that too??????? (you should know, that within a 10' radius of where I sit and type this, are at least 100 china teacups) ..... sigh.... and I thought I was so unique.... but the list describes me so much, it's like someone followed me around taking notes (which wouldn't be hard, as I don't move too much away from this computer....)

great list, but kinda troubling also....

No one is unique. The more time you spend on websites like this, the more you learn that.

I went over this list with my mother (this is for autism/PDD, not Asperger's specifically) and we agreed none of these really fit me, although some of it sounded like her as a child:

These don't quite describe me as a child either:
