Everything I've read about them has been vague. For example, what's the difference between stimming and a nervous tic? What does it mean to stim to "regulate sensory input?" How do other sensory issues manifest themselves in someone with AS?

thanks!

With stimming, it's involuntary until you manage to catch yourself, which generally requires someone else's close attention. With tics, my reading (of secondary or tertiary sources) indicates that the person is completely aware of the tic and can only suppress it for a certain period of time.
