Should I tell the school I'm Autistic AS?

I just got accepted into the school and I am wating for federal financial aid to pay for schooling. I hope I get it. If I don't

no school for me.

Ok so do I tell them, or not?

What if I tell them and they say I can't go to there insititue.

If I tell them, they might think I am slow or some thing? Im not!

What if I don't tell them and I am having a hard time?

If I tell them, they might not know what Autism is?

If I tell them they might not give me a fair chance?

Mechanics aren't hired for personality..;) I don't know. I'd keep it under wraps until you get a sense of the place. Then see whom you can trust...but that's me...

I just learned this the hard way. Keep AS to yourself. I didn't use the term... I just used "high functioning autistic". The consulting company I worked with turned on me big-time.

NT's have no idea what it means.

To quote Gandalf, "Keep it secret. Keep it safe."

I probably sound harsh, but you won't regret it.

They really CAN'T make allowances for you, as customers won't. There are only TWO ways you can succeed...

1. Do halfway decent, and accomodate YOURSELF through things like earplugs....

2. Tough it out and become ****SO**** good that you become so valuable, that customers almost BEG for you.

Otherwise, you might as well choose another field. LUCKILY, engine repair guys just have to state facts and opinions based directly on facts. You MIGHT be asked to sell a bit, but that isn't NEARLY as important.

You shouldn't say anything. My grandfather was probably autistic, and a mechanical genius with airplanes, motorcycles and cars.

bradsigma786, this thread is almost 4 years old. I think any decision will have been made quite some time ago.
