I was just watching a youtube video about a guy who got really grossed out when he thought about lettuce or even heard the word lettuce, and I had a flashback of when I was very young. When I first began to color, for a few years the color mint would gross me out and I had no idea why. It just made me queasy to look at it. I remember telling a friend this story several years back and she told me the colors yellow and orange used to make her sick, and I suspect that she might have Asperger's Syndrome. Has this happened to anyone before or currently? I'm very curious to know, thanks!

A particular shade of yellow that was popular briefly in the early 80s actually made me nauseous. It had a flavor I can't really describe and have never actually tasted from real food, but it made me feel ill.

I don't recall having seen this shade quite so pervasively since that time, but I remember seeing it in advertisements, on snack wrappers, and seeing cars of that color.

There was also a shade of gold or brown or somewhere between the two that tasted like if you made a cake and it tasted like vinyl. It made me nauseous as well.

for me it is patterns, it can be a very ugly repeating pattern that creates too much movement so it looks like motion, or simply a single color repeated shape, like a yoga mat or a textured curtain. If I have to keep looking at it, it makes me feel like throwing up.

Interesting...do you guys think it's linked to Asperger's Syndrome/Autism?

I think it's linked to synesthesia, which is often seen in autistic people.

Me too. I get dizzy looking at really busy patterns.

Sure, mismatched colors make me very... unhappy. And almost always yellow, orange and pink. Just disgusting.
But there is no connection with other senses as in the case of synesthesia. It's just very unpleasant.

But this color selection is common with people, I suppose. Maybe we just feel it more intensively.
