Do any of you listen to the same song over and over and over again, frequently? For example, I listened to a Florence + The Machine song for two hours yesterday, the same song on repeat. And have done that often, even as an adult. The songs I listen to over and over aren't my favorites, I just want to listen to them over and over. When I was four, I would watch my very favorite movie every day ("Beauty and the Beast", Belle was my favorite princess, because she's practical AND she reads!), and then hit "rewind" (anyone remember the joy of rewinding VHS's?) and watch it again and again. My mom also thought I was weird as a kid because I would read a book, then flip it around and read it again. Even now, I do the same thing with movies in addition to songs, I have watched "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" every night for the last two months, and the disk repeats itself.

I'm sorry if anyone's annoyed by posts like this...I'm trying to figure out if this really is my dx, and this seems like the best place to do so until I get evaluated.

Yes; and just to say that there is plenty written in previous posts just about things that you inquire.
And just to say #2 that I think, imho, it's more suitable in ''getting to know each other'' than ''general A d.''
Hm, well, unless it hasn't been posted yet, I suppose.

Most of us Aspies love repetition. In fact, it's one of the best ways for us to learn something. When I really get into something, like a song, I will listen to it over and over again until I have it memorized. Sometimes, I'll watch a TV series or a movie and I'll want to watch it again. I'm also okay with reruns (I never get tired of watching House lol). In fact, I watch the same shows every night, regardless if they're a rerun.

Does it bother you that you like repetition?

I do alot of that, too.. with both music and film.

I listened to one specific Blonde Redhead album everyday (sometimes several times a day) for around 2 years.

For around 1 years time I watched Nacho Libre every day.

Ever since each and every dvd was released, I've watched Arrested Development over and over.

And with my son, who is also on the spectrum (but medium functioning), I have watched The Simpson's Movie a very minimum of 100 times. (he is MUCH worse about listening to/watching thing over and over that I am)

o.o honestly I never thought of it before as repetition but I always have music playing, or a movie playing as background noise, and I can listen to the same movie like 20+times. I just think of it as a way to block out noise, a way to calm down

Ok, so my most played song on itunes is this classical song I just LOVE and it has been played exactly 889 times in a year.....so yeah haha I've put so many songs on repeat for hours and I still am not tired of them. Also, I repeat a lot of phrases when I talk, and I love repetition in my poetry....

It really depends. Used to be "worse" when I was a kid. I most definitely watch far less tv and movies nowadays except for a few select shows, but this does happen with some music. Not sure if you could count playing the same video game over and over again, as some are more varied than others in content.

Oh yes this sounds like me.. on a day off work I have gone throughout the entire day before listening to just 2 different songs..

Then there's movies I have currently watched all 8 Harry Potter films 3 times (1 each night) without watching another film.

Glad I'm not the only one who does it.

Yes I will listen to the same song over and over and watch the same movies over and over too.

I've had this one streetlight manifesto song going on repeat for coming on an hour now. I hate how I listen to the same song over and over until I'm sick of it.

Definitely. The last time I listened to music was months ago, when I found an old gospel spirituals CD. I am not a conventional Christian, but listened to "when Jesus walked" in a loop all night. It never got old.

And I wear the same shoes and eat the same breakfast and follow the same routine every day. Routine feels very safe and uncertainty is something I try to eliminate.

No, it doesn't bother me that I like repetition. It's just something I do, for some reason. Always have, and never knew why until now. It does make me a bit relieved that all of you guys do it too, because I felt a little weird. :)

Same here on all counts! I thought that was just something weird I did. I can also become borderline obsessed with a song.

This is the only part that bothers me. There are four or five songs that play in my head very easily - many times a day. The same four or five songs for decades! I wish I could change them, as they're not particularly good, but they're too deeply embedded.

I've been into an Imogen Heap song for the last four years, and I could listen to it over and over again still. The songs that play in my head rotate; usually it's the few songs I'm listening to obsessively at the moment (currently OneRepublic and Florence + The Machine....).
