I don't know if I'm "obsessed" by maps, but I've always been fascinated by them, particularly globes. I'm also fascinated by time zones. I even frequently go on the world time zone website to see what time it is in other countries. I just like maps and globes...not sure why.

I'm not that interested in maps of the real world....but my fantasy world has maps of all sorts and other diagrams. I guess if i got interested in some place in the real world i would look into maps and stuff, i do think maps are cool...though my geagraphy is rubbish and always has been. I prefer maps of imaginary places.

for me its satillite imagery, google earth i look at it about every few days. i love it becuase its also a message board as well as a map. it is best for people who travel by looking at landmarks. i also like seeing the updated layers on it that are usually over africa and some areas of us. its like travelling all over the world in minutes and not even leaving the computer.

That has been the one enduring obsession over the years for me (from about to Elementary school to even today). I have to purchase a new Rand McNally Road Atlas every year (currently have about 3 - 4 floating around here) and everytime I lived in a new area, I had to get a raod map and study it.
That is why when someone tells me to get lost, I tell them that it is impossible for me to get lost

I don't know if I was ever obsessed with maps. I do know I successfully navigated my grandmother through Plymouth and around the south west of England when I was seven. I know people who are full grown and still can't read or follow a map ie navigate. I've always been good at navigation, with or without a map.

At 6 years old, I could navigate the school bus I was riding through its route better than the bus aide
In fact, many times when I was 6 and 7, I was asked to help a sub driver because I did it so well.

I've always enjoyed looking at maps especially in the old atlas my parents had at home and all and finding out more about different countries and all... but I wouldn't consider it fully an obsession. I don't have too many problems with navigation and all.

With my webname, what can I say?
I'm just as likely to go to bed with a good map and read it, as a good book.
I'm not talking about boring old A-Zs, or road maps. We have 'ordnance survey' maps here, with detailed contours, terrain features, points of historical or natural interest. It's easy to work out interesting walks and visualise landscapes. But I do enjoy the walks too, so it's not totally nerdy.
When I was a kid I had maps on the walls of my bedroom - of different countries too, not just the typical world and US maps. I had several globes too. My son has maps on his wall now - and loves to look at them also. I think it also ties in with him liking the weather channels too - besides the fun of the weather - there are all those maps.

I love maps, especially old ones, and I've always wanted to collect them. When I see one I just have this sense of awe! I can almost hear the Hallelujah Chorus! I love maps, particularly old ones. Did I mention that already?

I like studying maps but I am not obsessed with them. Except for that time back in 'nam where we had to walk through a mine field using a hand-drawn map to guide us, while Viet Cong stood beyond the mine field and banged trash can lids together and made lots of noise and pulled funny faces in an attempt to distract us from reading the map properly.
