Do aspies try to imitate neurotypicals but fail to do so and instead alienate themselves even more? I am like that :)

Oh hell yeah. They get really offended and think I'm mocking them.

I've been trying to copy NTs for as long as I can remember. I've known I'm "different" for a long time and have tried many time to be like my peers.

My miserable failures have come when I've tried to use popular phrases or imitate movements. I don't know what I do "wrong" but they rarely turn out "right." During my school years my attempts at imitation usually resulted in being bullied.

Not exactly nowadays, but I try to imitate what I believe NTs would want me to do.
