There was a thread about a year ago that I just found through a search.

Compulsive chewing of objects. I chew on my nails, and the skin around them. Today I bit down hard enough to chip a tooth (already had a tiny "fault line" in it) I also chew on pens, pencils, and my shirt sleeves.

I know for children, they sell these special therapy "chewies." I'd rather not walk around with one of those sticking out of my mouth, but I don't want to break anymore teeth.

Any ideas for something else to try?

Well, I chew my nails all the time, and the skin around them too. and when I was little I used to chew on my clothing, drinking straws, toys, the backs of pens, ice, etc.

the only other person in my family who did that was my autistic little brother.

idk how to stop it though...
