Being Technical

I got accused of being too technical. A friend texted me something and a minute later I replied back. He didn't reply til the next day and said he was on the way to a sporting event. I sarcastically replied that he must of have gotten pretty far in a minute to not text back. He said I was being technical.

I think that I can't handle excuses, white lies, or whatever else to replace what he really means. Obviously he had other important things to do besides talk to me, so instead of just saying that, he replied with a white lie.

Does anyone else get bothered by this?

All the time and that must be really annoying to other people I suppose.
I just didn't understand it's function until recently I've tried using some of those standart 'plays' myself.
I can't help but laugh inside whenever any of those actually work..

I actually make up little white lies most of the time. The other day I really wanted a day in but my friend phoned up and asked if I wanted to come out shopping, so I said I had an ear infection and didn't feel like coming out, and that I will see her next week. She did believe me, but the trouble is you can't keep making up the same excuse every time, or you can't do it too often either otherwise people will find out you're making excuses and stop believing you.

It frustrates me a lot that this sort of thing is built into our society. White lies are somehow helpful and I just don't get it and am not good at doing it for it to be fair.

When I was younger I tried to tell small lies in order to be like others but found they pile up and its really difficult living dishonestly like that, so I quit... then I figured most people had a hard time with it so it would be obvious who was honest and who was not, but tats not true.

Now if someone interacts with me they know up front that I don't tolerate or tell white lies. I get accused of being too technical, or rigid about integrity but too bad if that does not fit in with their behavior then they do not need to interact with me.

My dad used to beat the s**t out of me for "being technical." Basically, any time I opened my mouth it meant time to get hit.

People say that I'm technical a lot, which is actually true. I do lots of technical things with computers, audio / visual, etc. etc., so I just take it in stride if anyone says that about me.

If you mean technical in the sense that I get bothered when people say stuff, for example, like "it's Tuesday night" when it's past midnight Wednesday morning, then yes, I am a very technical person.

My psychologist says I explain something in a technical way. That's when I started to notice it and it's true. When I get into details my voice changes and I stop looking at people. It's just like I'm reading instructions from a manual.

If a friend said they couldn't go out because they had an ear infection but didn't really have it, to me that's not a white lie that's dishonesty. A white lie was never really in my dictionary. A lie is a lie. I'm usually the one reviving invites, not giving them. I turn things down by being too honest and detailed. So does my friend. We always say something like I'm really responding weirdly to these meds or I could just punch people today so I wouldn't make the best company.
Mad friends make the most honest friends.

Whether someone contacts me through e-mail, SMS, chat, phone - it's all the same to me. It's not like you are role playing. Be honest to me or it's over. I'm even honest to strangers online.

People have said this to me my entire life. Not a surprise, really. I focus far too much on the minute details.

Is being too technical a bad thing now? Surely the most detailed answer is the best. Although I don't think I'm best suited to speculate here, I'm in circles that not only prefer the technical answer, but do so competitively.
