I don't know what an SSI is. Only thing that comes to mind are SSRI's to be honest. Anyway, a reclassification of autism is always going to be a concern. What does this change mean for sufferers? What does it mean for the professionals who practice? They may need a significant amount of time to adjust.

SSI is like being on disability, government benefits.
I would think having Bipolar would be your reason to be on SSI.

People diagnosed with AS before the change don't need to worry about not fitting the criteria. There will be no new diagnosis's but it will probably take years for the new criteria to come in.

I don't know why you would lose your benefits. You would go from AS to ASD level 1. You can contact the person who evaluated you and ask how your file will be updated after the revision.
