Im quite seriously considering seeing a therapist and getting a proper diagnosis of aspergers. But I have reservations, so I thought I'd put my questions here.

What do I say? Just book an appointment and say something along the lines of "I think I have aspergers". How will he or she diagnose me - I've done the tests on this forum which all say I'm positive. What sort of treatment will I get after the diagnosis? And will affect my chances of getting a job?

For the record, I'm 17 and in the UK.

In the UK the usual procedure is to request an assessment via your GP. If you're at school, college or uni, then you may be able to get an assessment through the education department or student support services.

The National Autistic Society (NAS) are a good, reliable source of information, and you might want to contact them first.
