Why do you hate photographs? For me there are many reasons.

I am sensitive to the flash.
I am self conscious.
I am a perfectionist. I have something wrong with me. Maybe its ocd but if the geometry isnt right it bugs me and i spend hours editing or retaking pictures.
I dont like people having my picture.
I dont like evidence that i exist. I like my privacy.
I dont like showing emotion
Smiling is hard.
I dont like other people.
I dont get or understand the importance or purpose of photograghs.
I just dont care. I can remember you perfectly or the scene. I wont forget it.
Im a minimalist.

However i am talented and enjoy taking pictures of objects and certain scenes. I have a good eye and am pretty creative with the camera.

How about you guys? Im curious and want to learn more about AS. Thanks.

Pretty much all the same reasons for me. Except one, remembering the event, I'd usually rather just forget about it. For the most part, I hate looking at photos and being reminded of things that happened in the past.

I think photos are best taken by people who know how to do it right. Most people don't, and they come out looking awful. Bad lighting, bad composition, bad timing.

I have retina damage in my right eye, and it hurts when a flash goes off.

I like forgeting about the event too. My point was i dont need tangible evidence because i have a memory.

Thats why facebook never worked out for me. What a bad experience and a waste of time. Most of the time i was stuck picking the perfect picture only to be told i look like a serial killer or a molester. Im in college btw lol.

I'm often the one behind the camera.

When I've had to be in family pictures, who ever was taking the picture always had to remind me to smile. Once in a while, just before a picture was taken, my dad would say something to make me laugh, but he is also a person that always has to be reminded to smile for pictures.

I think I look stupid in most pictures, but I do appreciate a few pictures that I look okay in, especially now that I'm older.

PS: I hated my high school yearbook picture so much that I cut it out of my own book...and the few people who asked me to sign their books have a pic of me with pen-drawn sunglasses, and some a pen-drawn beard and moustache on my face *lol*

I don't mind having my picture taken, and if I'm goofing around with my friend who loves to take pictures, it's fun. She took that one of my that's my avatar actually. She tells me what to do and which way to look and all that. It was her idea to be walking away. If it's left up to me I'll just stand there and smile really hard and way too big. I've had some good professional ones taken of me. My wedding portrait for the newspaper was great. The thing is, professional photographers will tell you what to do, where to look, what to adjust, etc. I don't come out looking so goofy with them.

As for pictures of others, I love having pictures of my kids. I'll frame school pictures etc. In my hallway going back to the bedrooms I have a lot of framed pictures of the kids over the years. I like having them there, and their friends always like to look at them. We recently got my oldest daughters senior portrait and framed it and I put it on the mantle yesterday. It's very pretty. I like looking at them and remembering when they were that age.

As for not liking anybody to have a picture of you, I know people like that. They are just very superstitious though. Some people believe that a hoodoo can put a spell on you if they have your picture. I don't believe it, but some do. And they actually do burn the candle on the picture of the person. I've seen people do it, mainly older people and when I was a kid. Then again, those are the same people who insist that the barber or hair dresser sweep up their hair after a cut and put it in a bag and give it to them to take home and dispose of, because they believe that a hoodoo can put a spell on you using your hair too lol.

I wish I took better photos. As in I wish I looked better in photos.
