Only when I misjudge the distance between the bottom of the object and the surface on which it is supposed to be set on. Hence, I usually only end up dropping things by less than a centimeter.

I can always drop things on purpose, but I do not think that is the point of your question.

Hmmm... I didn't vote because I tend to drop things when my attention is divided, since my multitasking abilities are crap. :?

Hmm, I'd almost like to say I drop things all the time but that isn't exactly true; I can go for weeks without the 'dropsies' and then have them for days straight. If I'm nerved up I'm more likely to drop, or if I'm not paying attention to what I'm doing, like if I'm watching tv and I go to put something down.
I definately bump into stuff (everything, even WALLS) more than I drop things. I'm the type that walks into people just because I didn't expect them to be there, I've walked into parking meters, that hurts 8O . One time I swam into some dude's crotch (underneath the water) at camp, luckily he saw me and, um, protected his person before I went head long into, um, them.

I have never given this much thought.I tend to notice mostly when the object has liquid...because then I have a mess to clean up.I tend to "not be watching what I am doing" and misjudge the distance from the object to the surface I am reaching for,or not notice that there is already an object on the surface which upsets the cup when I put it on top.

Other times,I miss judge the weight of the object or my wrist is to weak?I have strong arms and hands but very bad wrists.(4 sisters with carpel tunnel).

Guess the answer would be a mix of "cluttered apt",weak wrists, poor distance judgement and distractions from book,TV or person talking.

This is also me, Sixela... although I never swam into anyone's crotch before, and for that I am thankful. 8O

I am currently on a four-day-roll of minor injuries here at work: smacked my head on Tuesday and again on Wednesday (on two different objects), Thursday I somehow managed to tear nail from nail bed with a single paper cut (I didn't know they could bleed that much!), and today, I tripped while climbing the stairs (less spectacular but always a classic)

Generally, I injure myself / drop things when I'm trying to multitask while doing something that requires physical action.

PS Sixela: I'm in NB... nice part of the world we live in, huh?

Sometimes I forget I'm holding something, and I drop it.

If something's burning me I'll either drop it, try to get it on the nearest clean surface (for food) or something else; like the other day, I grabbed a cookie fresh from the oven. It was really hot, so I stuffed it into my mouth before even thinking just to ease the pain in my fingertips. Not a smart move.

I constantly drop stuff at work. Mostly small metalic stuff that won't break. It is a pain in the neck though to find them once they droped on the floor.

I drop things all the time for no specific reason unless I actively concentrate on not doing so

oh, man, i drop things all the time and if i'm having a bad day then i'll sort of ya, know...kick it until i can release all of this anger built up inside. i'll just be walking and whatever i'm carrying will fall out of my hands without out my knowledge.

I am more or less permanently covered in bruises from bashing parts of myself on doors, walls, furniture, anything really! I don't seem to know where my body is in space ha ha!

I seem to drop things when I'm daydreaming or when I'm closing my eyes like I'm drifting off to sleep.

Me too, though it's partly caused by small apartment with too much furniture-and I don't go out much, so I stay home & collide with corners & handles of things.
Don't mean to stray off-topic. I drop things, usually small stuff that requires hand strength & finger dexterity to hold-pens, lighters, and the like. Carrying a full-to-the-brim mug of hot tea is frequent challenge. Sometimes knock stuff (piles of papers) over or off a surface, that's partly related agin to my physical space-clutter is all around. Can do delicate/detail work with hands/fingers, but my tendons quickly feel worn out, muscles get stiff & less responsive.
Times when it seems I'm dropping every little thing I chalk up to a "Heavy Gravity Day". Fabricated that concept to amuse myself, know it's not logical or scientific but it entertains me to think of it that way. It (pattern of recently dropping items) happens to my (NT) boyfriend, too.
When I drop something, even if I catch it before it hits the floor, I get that surge of adrenaline (can feel it along my wrists). It's tingly & fuzzy-feeling sensation, similar to when I'm startled.

Maily when the plates i'm carrying lose their balance and fall everywhere, cutlery and all.

Waitressing sucks.
