I was hoping you could help me answer a few questions...Not only do I question if I have Aspergers, I have numerous family members that do, as well as a fantastic boyfriend that is a full Aspie. I chose to do a quick survey, to help me better understand. I would also enjoy thoughts and opinions on this topic. Please feel free to add as little or as much extra information as you wish. The questions are as followed:

1) What is your official diagnosis, and how old were you when you recieved said diagnoisis? Were you offered any type of treatment (such as behavioral or medicational?) If so, how did it affect you?
2) What characteristics, or traits do you present? Do you have any odd rituals you use to control said characterisics?
3) What do you believe caused it? (or what they told you caused it) Such as refridgerator parents, vaccines or simply genetics etc.
Thank you in advance for clearing it up, I just want to see the similarities :D

Your text looks like the same as the last person. Who asked for this information...
3) gave it away.

I did. I figured it would be easiest to present as a research paper, because they are such specific questions, but I really just want to know. I have heard different stories and seen how different people act, and I would like to see if other people have had similar experiences. I am sorry if my intentions were misconstrued :/

Hi Mockingbird147,

I will try to answer each of your questions in order:

1) my official diagnosis is aspergers. I was about 7 when I was diagnosed. I was offered no medication, though about every couple of months I would travel to I suppose a behavioral clinic which I deeply hated going to. Also, it had no effect on me, especially in light of the fact that there was nothing wrong with me to begin with...

2) I am not exactly sure what u are asking here. Please be more specific.

3) In all likelihood, the cause of aspergers is genetic. So far, other hypotheses, such as vaccines or whatever, have been debunked, though for some reason people still keep talking about those notions as if they were factual...

Thank you Woofer123, that was helpful :)
What would they do at this behavioral clinic? My boyfriend told me he had to do this for a while, but gave me vague answers, I was wondering how bad it is. For 2, I mean are you very shy, or do you spout information? I'm just giving stereotypical traits, but I would be interested in knowing any quirks or just in general. I hope that cleared it up :) And I too believe genetics are the leading cause, but I know some people (or more likely, some people's parents) still look for other causes, and I was just curious. Thanks!

You know it would be much easier, if you just type your life story & what traits you think you have. Someone will tell you.

Also they is http://rdos.net/eng/Aspie-quiz.php that will give you a ruff idea.

I've thought about doing that, and I will some time. Although, it's pretty boring. I doubt anyone would read through it. And I've tried taking the online quizzes and I have found them... Inconclusive. Its always borderline, but I guess usually more Aspie than not. I guess I should just settle with not knowing, because it seems silly at this point to get officially diagnosed, and what good would that do me anyways? But i'm always curious on other's semi-life stories.
