Does anyone else find that too much socialising can trigger migraines?

I seem to only be able to take socialising in short bursts and not too frequently otherwise I get a migraine from hell. Am I alone in this way?

Yes. On top of that I some more triggers include:

Light changes
Smells (paint used for walls is the worst)
Loud sounds

Its no wonder I want to become a hermit....

I used to get them in my 20's when I did something I didn't want to go to, including socializing. I just knew when I got them that that was the cause. I grew out of it somehow as I went into my 30's. Very painful. It lasted 5-6 years.

So far, I can't figure out the trigger for mine. I get one severe migraine once every couple of months...many of them have happened at work, one of the worst was at school (college), but I also once woke up in the middle of an attack, so can't be certain that there's any one trigger for them.

I am still trying to find all the triggers for mine as there seems to be several all combining together. One is socialising, another is certain types of light (supermarket, strobe, bright sunlight as I am sensitive to all those), not getting enough sleep, hormones (monthly migraine) and food also plays a role I think but I do not know exactly which ones. The most likely culprits seem to be aspartame in diet sodas, chocolate (particularly dark), soya and wheat (although that can upset my gut more than my head sometimes causing IBS type stuff). I will have to try some kind of elimination diet I think.

I was tested for celiac (just a blood test, no biopsy which is the most accurate way of testing) as I have a brother with it but it came back normal, although I had stopped eating gluten at the time. I still think my gut doesn't like wheat though cause it's been particularly upset since I went back on it and my migraines have been more frequent. I will probably go back paleo again (grain free, dairy free, soya free....) and see what happens.

I have migraines since I was born and it took me years to realise what are the triggers. Socialising can be one trigger only if it involves loud talking (many people at the same time or few people but in a loud background), drinking, smoking (not me, the others), eating pub/bar food (often very salty) and when I try to talk and be understood and nobody gives a damn.

There is a link between migraines(sometimes severe) and synesthesia too.
