I'm sure this kind of topic has been done before, but I was wondering what everybody else's special interests are? :) (I felt this was the right forum to post this topic in, since special interests can be a symptom of Asperger's/Autism?

As my username suggests, my special interest is SpongeBob. But that actually coincides with my other special interest, animation. Because as for years, I've been fascinated by the way cartoons are made, from Toy Story, to Wallace & Gromit and The Simpsons. For that reason, I enjoy watching stuff like SpongeBob, Phineas & Ferb, Futurama, Simpsons etc. Some people think it's weird to have a special interest in that, but I think it's quite useful. As I'll be studying animation next year in university, and I hope to get a job in creating my own cartoons. :)

Movies are my primary interest. I own over 500 DVDs/Blu-Rays, have a degree in Film Studies and am a short filmmaker. I'm currently awaiting notice as to my acceptance or rejection to the American Film Institute. I met my boyfriend of four years through our shared interest in film.

I also have an interest in the human body, and specifically, illness/disease. Mystery Diagnosis used to be my favorite show, before they got rid of Discovery Health, which was also my favorite channel. I very briefly wanted to be a doctor, but I'm poor at math and science, and am incapable of 'quick thinking.'

Science is one for me that's such a main interest I don't even realise I'm thinking about it most of the time . More concious ones are
Doctor who and the works of Terry Pratchett. My hobby/some time profession of magic tricks has got to fit somewhere in here as well.

Tim Burton/Johnny Depp movies - I've been a fan of these two since January of 2010, when one fateful day I decided to watch Edward Scissorhands on a whim. From there, I went on to watch every movie that they've done together. I've never been disappointed by any of them. My favorites are Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sweeney Todd, Sleepy Hollow and Edward Scissorhands.

I'm anxiously and impatiently waiting for Dark Shadows, another Burton/Depp movie, to come out. I've been keeping tabs on it since before production even began. It's supposed to come out on May 11th, but no trailers have been put out yet, so there are rumors going around that its release date is getting pushed back. One Brazilian movie site says that the trailer will be out in a couple of days and that its release date is getting pushed back to June 22nd. It seems like a legit source since they got a hold of some stills before anyone else. As Absolem says in Alice in Wonderland, "We shall see..."

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic - Back in November of 2011, there was a sudden explosion of My Little Pony popularity here on WP. I decided to see what all the fuss was about, so I watched a couple of episodes. Then I was hooked! I have since seen every episode that they've put out. I have also amassed a modest "herd" of My Little Pony toys and a couple of T-shirts. My most favorite to least favorite characters out of the Main Six are, in order: Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Applejack and Rarity.

Not sure exactly. Seems like a enjoy a lot of general things. Video games, art, music, books, shows, etc. I suppose that if I had to make a list of certain things I've been obsessed with, this might be what it consists of:

Stephen King and lots of his books
Harry Potter
Lost
Paranoia Agent
Excel Saga
NieR
Legend of Zelda
Fallout
Metroid
Metal Gear Solid
Old school gaming in general(if I ever get a new job I'd probably be looking into collecting pre NES era stuff)
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Talking Heads
The Beatles
Drawing
Writing
Teaching myself how to make games(at least with Game Maker, anyway)

I like water bottles, fisher space pens, and listening for the Wilhelm scream when I watch movies. It's everywhere!

Stereotypical Aspie geek stuff for me: Electronics, computers and machinery. I discovered electricity at around age 6 and that was it for me. One of my few childhood memories is of the first time I worked out how to turn a light bulb on with a battery and a few pieces of wire. Computers came later at about 12 years old. By 14 or so I was building all sorts of computer controlled devices and I've never stopped. The machines have just become bigger, more expensive and more complicated. I've built all sorts from computerized model aircraft to monster metalworking machines that can turn a piece of 1" steel bar into a pretzel if you press the wrong button (absolutely guaranteed to double your heart rate when it happens).

The other day a friend said he is sure that one day he'll come over to find I've become one of the Borg 8O

Conveniently there is a shortage of people who can design embedded electronics and program them as well so I have even managed to make a career of it.

If you've borrowed my brain, I'd really like to have it back.
