My psychiatrist has retired. He specialised in autism and ADHD. From now on, should I go to a regular psychiatrist, or go to another one who specialises in autism?

Having professionals that specialize in autism spectrum disorders has meant a huge amount to me. If I were in your place, I'd find another one who specialized in autism.

Can you still talk to your psychiatrist, and can he still make referrals? After all, if he knows your case well, he probably knows people whose skills make them suited for taking over.

As for what kind of psychiatrist you need, that depends on what you need from a psychiatrist, doesn't it? Figure out what services you need, and whether they require a specialist.
