I had an appointment with my case worker today and he agreed 95% about my AS diagnosis. He was a little hesitant about dismissing the severity of my depression due to the new "diagnosis". I have had some severe childhood and adult trauma's and he was thinking these have caused PTSD which have in turn caused the severe depression, self harm and suicide attempts (sorry for all the personal info). He has an appointment with my psychiatrist scheduled to discuss a new treatment plan. I know there isn't a med regiment to treat AS, but is there anything that anybody knows to help them? Thanks in advance.

Anything for any of our "symptoms"? Really, any information would be useful.

I take beta blockers for anxiety. I don't take these 40mg ones though, I take slow release 80mg ones for anxiety. They work, but there are still situations where they don't work and I still feel anxious. But, it isn't on top of me all the time anymore.

Nothing. I tried beta blockers for stress once, but they didn't help. I don't really get so anxious or depressed that I need meds. I have some attention defecit, but it doesn't interfere with my life enough to need intervention......my job isn't demanding in that way amy more, and I don't usually blank out when people who are important (to me) are talking to me. It would be interesting to see if Adderol would help me to focus on the plots of films better, but film focus isn't really that important to me.

I just try to eat healthy, get exercise, fresh air, develop a healthy lifestyle.

I am thankful for my Anafranil everyday. It has changed my life. It is the only thing that (usually) prevents me from having multiple, daily panic attacks, and it has been a godsend for lessening my OCD obsessions. Without it, I would never be able to hold down a job.

I take prozac 40mg for the depression and anxiety symptoms as a longer-term solution. I take metoprolol for anxiety symptoms and another medical condition. I take clonazepam when my anxiety gets too bad, but I only take 0.25mg of it as I find I am sensitive to it. I take 1mg of haldol when I have a meltdown that lasts for days if the agitation is intolerable, but I only take maybe 6 tablets per year. I also take a host of supplements including B-complex, omega 3, magnesium, passion flower and I take melatonin to help me sleep. The depression and anxiety are my most bothersome issues, but I find that when they're under control I have fewer meltdowns, stim much less due to stress, am less rigid in my routines, and have an easier time coping in social situations.

(sorry but I am averse to brand names so I will use generic names; just my idiosyncrasy)

Olanzapine 20mg and Aripiprazole 10mg for schizophrenia
Mebeverine 135mg 3x daily for irritable bowel syndrome

And "taken when needed":
Hyoscine Hydrobromide for IBS spasms
Tranexamic Acid 500mg 4x daily for dysmenorrhoea/heavy menstrual periods

I used to have some Haloperidol 5mg to take if I needed for relief of acute psychotic/anxiety symptoms, but I've ran out and anyhow I plan to ask for 0.5mg Clonazepam for the anxiety as Haloperidol has too many side-effects and Clonazepam is more effective for my autism-related anxiety

I also have some old Procyclidine 5mg take when needed for extrapyramidal side-effects, but I don't have those side-effects anymore

That's about it. I have some old Omeprazole 20mg but I don't have a stomach ulcer any more.

I take several multivitamins every day.
I read somewhere it's helped many people stop binging, so that's my current hope.

I take Celexa for my anxiety, and besides making me drowsy and needing coffee and energy drinks to stay awake, I find that it helps quite a lot. The difference is like night and day: before I was on them I was constantly cranky, edgy and had a very low social threshold because I was so anxious. Now, it is much easier to relax and unwind, especially around other people. I'm still like this at times, but only when I haven't gotten enough sleep.

I'm also on birth control pills: mainly for my skin as it regulates my hormones, preventing breakouts as I am acne-prone.
